Review: NYX Lift & Snatch! Brow Tint Pen - Ash Brown

I have found my new favorite brow product and my favorite brow pen in general. It compliments my brow lamination perfectly to fill in any sparse or bold areas and still make it look hair like.

Review: NYX Slim Lip Pencils - Nude Pink, Natural, Peekaboo Neutral, Ever

I've always loved NYX as a brand, because it's sort of like a drugstore alternative to MAC and they always have great shade selection. Not that I've tried much of their products, because we don't have them in Slovenian drugstore, but I am always so happy when I can get some in person. Their Slim Lip Pencils quickly became one of my favorite, mostly because of the wide selection of nude shades that they offer.

Review: NYX Epic Ink Liner - Black

Since Asian products are harder to get these days, I look for alternatives that I can buy in Europe. While researching for a good brush tip liquid liner, I came upon many great reviews for NYX Epic Ink Liner. I decided to try it out and it turns out, it's as nice as they say.

Review: NYX Slim Lip Pencil - Nude Beige, Mauve, Mahogany

I bought two of these NYX Lip Pencils in Bipa in Austria once and ever since, I loved the formula and wanted to get more. I got one more shade, but would love to try out even more in the future. It's that regular lip pencil formula, but the thing that got me the most is the shade selection. There is a ton of nudes to choose from.

Review: NYX Micro Brow Pencil - Taupe

I was avoiding buying NYX Micro Brow Pencil for such a long time, because I just thought it's too expensive. But then I had the chance to check out shades in person in store and I gave it a go. It's always compared to Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I am cheap when it comes to brown pencils, because I use them daily and there's so little product in it, that I go through it so fast.

Review: NYX Pro Foundation Mixer - White

I realize this review should have been written a while ago. I had this product for about 10 months now, plus white foundations tend to be more sought after in the winter time, but nonetheless, I finally made up my mind about this. It's definitely one of must have products for all of your that like higher coverage and find most drugstore foundations to be too dark for your skin tone.

Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Berlin

This was to be expected. I wasn't finished with buying NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. It's one of my favorite matte liquid lipstick formulas and I feel like I finally have a collection of colors that I really wanted. My latest edition is perfect chocolaty fall shade called Berlin.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams have a small lip gloss plastic tube that has the color of shade outside and a black matte plastic top. It's compact and great to travel with.

In it is 8 ml of product and I got it for 8.95€ in Douglas.

It has regular doe foot applicator that doesn't hold too much product. You get just enough to apply a thin coat, but I usually go in with another for a more intense and darker color.

These have a mousse whipped like consistency that spreads easily. It needs quite a lot of time to completely dry down, especially if you apply thicker coat. At first it looks creamy and has a bit of sheen, but it dries down to matte finish.

Berlin is the darkest shade I own from NYX and the pigmentation is good, but you still need to apply a thicker coat to get fully opaque look. I think that with lighter shades you can only apply one sheer coat and looks more even.

It's not as long lasting as a proper matte liquid lipstick, so you'll need to reapply it after drinking a lot or eating.

I especially love these because of the ultra comfortable formula. It's not hydrating, but it doesn't feel tightening or uncomfortably dry like proper matte liquid lipstick. It stays more velvet on the lips and doesn't feel heavy either. But it also means that it transfers.

All of these lipsticks have a wonderful sweet vanilla scent

Berlin is what I call medium chocolate warm brown shade. It has definite warm undertone to it. On me it actually looks quite dark - darker than it appears on these photos, but it's still more of a medium tone in general.

I have nothing similar in color. Avon Mark Plump It Lipstick in Truffle is a burgundy brown shade and looks much more redish. Avon True Supreme Nourishing Lipstick in Smooth Mocha is a sheerer formula and more of a cooler brown. Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Marvelous Mocha is much lighter warm nude brown with hints of peach and pink.

It's by far one of my favorite chocolate browns, because it's so warm toned and I feel like it matches so well with my brown eye color. Perfect for all of you that like a good chocolate brown lipstick.

My collection of NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams now includes:
Athens
Stockholm
London
Cannes
Berlin

Athens is a true peachy shade. Stockholm is my-lips-but-better warm brownish pink shade. Cannes is a mauve version of a proper nude color. London is a light warm brown nude. Berlin is the darkest and it's a true warm chocolate medium brown.

I think I'm done with buying NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, unless they come out with more shades. I have a good neutral selection with a perfect chocolate pop of color for fall. I love these because of the mousse texture, comfortable feeling and great wearable shades. If you have dry lips in general and want a good matte liquid lipstick, I always recommend these. The selection of colors is huge as well.

Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Cannes

It's not a secret that I love NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. For me personally, those are the best liquid matte lipsticks. I like them, because they are not drying and I have dry lips in general. I got my fourth shade Cannes, which I'll be reviewing today.

It has plastic tube packaging in the color of the shade inside. Top is plastic matte black. I got it for 5.50£ on Boots. In it is 8 ml of product.

Doe foot applicator is pretty classic and soft, kind of fluffy. It applies product evenly and there's enough on it for whole lips.

Shade Cannes is medium warm mauve. It might lean towards brown on certain skin tones and depending on your skin tone it can look warmer or cooler. On me it looks like a warm mauve. Definitely more pink toned than it looks like on Mateja.

I like the shade, because it has that warm brown and kind of peachy undertone. It definitely still goes into my kind of neutrals range. I don't like too pink shades and this one is just mauve enough.

I also compared it to some other shades, but found no dupes which is great for me. It means I didn't waste my money.

Avon 3D Plumping Lipstick in Divine Wine is even more purple mauve toned shade and kind of deeper. Bourjois Rouge Edition 12 Hours in shade 33 is a more peachier alternative. It's definitely brighter, warm and a bit lighter in shade.

Texture of these lip cream is like a whipped mousse. It goes on really smooth and applies evenly. You can sheer it out or build it up for a more opaque look. Cannes has good pigmentation.

I like vanilla scent that these have. It makes for an enjoyable application.

They are not drying on the lips, although you will still feel them, if you have very dry lips. They apply shiny and need about 10 to 15 minutes to dry to matte finish. It depends on how thick your layer is.

Because the formula is so wearable and non-drying these are not the most long lasting matte lipsticks. In all honesty, these stay on my lips for a really long time, if I don't eat or drink too much, otherwise you will need to reapply them. Especially on the inner corners.

On first photo is how it looks like right after application (has quite a lot of shine to it) and on the second photo it is dried down to a matte finish.

Shades usually look lighter on photos than they do on me in real life. So keep in mind that Cannes looks a bit darker in real life.

I decided to swatch my collection of four shades for you to get a better idea as to how these compare. As you can see Stockholm is the closest to Cannes, but is in fact lighter and a lot more brown based or rather peachy. On me these both still look pink toned, but Cannes is a much more mauve shade and slightly darker.

You can read reviews of other shades:

I absolutely adore NYX Matte Lip Creams, because they don't feel drying on my dry lips, they apply lovely and have a huge selection of nude shades. These are not the most long lasting and crazy pigmented matte lipstick, but are total winners in the category of matte comfortable wear.

Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - London

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are my favorite liquid matte lipsticks. They are the best formula for those of you who suffer from dry lips and hate tight feeling of extremely drying liquid lipsticks. I get that so many love those, because they stay on your lips like nobody's business, but for my lips that also means chapped lips. And those I have to heal for two weeks, if it's that severe. So I'd rather wear formulas that don't further dry out my lips.

These lip creams have a standard plastic tube packaging. The tube is usually in the color of the product. Top is matte black. In each is 8 ml of product and costs 7.04€ on Feelunique.

It has a soft fluffy doe foot applicator which works good. I have no problem applying the product. I also never use any lip liners with these, because I can get a precise line. It can sometimes be too much product on the applicator, especially if you want to apply a thin layer. But that can be solved.

Since I already had peachy and mauve nude shade, I also wanted brown. London is warm, almost nude, light brown. On me it's more brown than nude, because I have fair skin tone. This will look like a nude shade on medium to dark skin tones. Keep in mind that it looks lighter on my photos than it does on me in real life.

It's a whipped mousse like texture that applies well and wears even better. It's a bit shiny at first, but after a few minutes (10 to 15 min) it dries to a matte finish. NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams need a bit longer to dry down completely, but they still wear lovely. If you don't drink or eat, it lasts up to few hours. If not, you'll need to reapply it. It doesn't cake up, even if you apply more layers on top. It also wears of pretty evenly. In the middle of the lips it's when it usually starts getting off first, because of eating and drinking.

This formula never dries out my lips which I really appreciate. It also feels very lightweight.

Pigmentation is on the medium side and you can apply really thin layer or build up to fully opaque look. I prefer this, because it can be applied thinly which also means it's not as drying or cakey looking.

I already have Athens (light peachy brown) and Stockholm (peachy mauve brown). London is the most brown of these all. But they are all in the nude range and on the lighter side of shades.

Athens is the lightest and looks the most peachy of them all. It also has hint of pink to it. Stockholm looks the most pink or rather mauve based of these all. But it also has a bit of peach undertone on me and brown in it as well. London is the most neutral (but still warm toned) brown of these all and is about the same darkness as Stockholm.

I love wearing all of these on their own or mixing them together. Athens in the center and London on the edges or Stockholm on the center of the lip and London on the edges.

I didn't find any dupe in my collection. Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in shade Marvelous Mocha seemed the most similar, but is in fact a lot darker and more red based while London seems more yellow based brown.

My excitement over NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams doesn't seem to be ending. I already ordered Cannes and will probably buy more shades in the future. If you have naturally dry lips and want liquid matte lipstick that doesn't dry out your lips or feel heavy on the lips, this is it. I also appreciate NYX for offering so many neutral tones. In most drugstores I always find reds and pinks, but to be honest, I don't wear those everyday. I just love my neutrals. Mousse texture, matte finish and comfortable wear are a winners in my book.

New In (5)

In last couple of month there have been some new makeup releases and I've had the chance to buy some brands that I usually don't get to see in person. I've mostly bought makeup. You'll also find some skin care and hair care in this post.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O

While I was in France (read more about it here), I had to visit a few French pharmacies. There're known for having a lot of french skin care brands at lower prices. A lot of those pharmacies also carry larger sizes at a lower price. I got Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water, because it was 1+1 offer. This is my absolute favorite eye makeup remover, because it's the most sensitive micellar I've ever tried.

Batiste Wild Dry Shampoo

No, I still don't have enough of these. I think the obsession is getting ridiculous. Whenever I see one of these, I just grab it. To be honest, Wild is my favorite scent and I can't get it in our country, so it was worth buying it.

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette

This was one of the biggest purchases ever and I'm still not sure it was worth it. It's a lovely neutral palette. There's combination of warm and cool tones and one pop of blue. Some are already my favorites. In general, I don't think this is worth the price, at least not to me. I prefer Zoeva eye shadow textures and I think I might just buy those in the future (unless they decide to go up with their prices again). If the palette would have more my kind of shades, I would probably think differently about it.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Original

This has already impressed me so much. It's very sheer and looks like nothing on the lids, but it holds eye makeup so well. Whenever I wear this underneath, my eyeshadow never creases. I might even need to consider buying a full version.

Benefit They're Real! Mascara

I've grown to love this. At first I hated it, because it was just too wet. Actually it still is. I take most of it off and build it up slowly. It gives nice volume, but too much can make my lashes look a bit clumpy. I love the fact that it also makes my lashes a bit longer and it holds the curl well.

Kiko Flawless Fusion Bronzer Powder 01 Natural Tan

I love this magnetic packaging so much that I just had to get another product and it was bronzer. Shade 01 is pretty light and it's too light for my summer tan now. It's neutral, almost a bit more redish based than orange and it doesn't look flat out matte, which I like. So far I'm loving it.

Kiko Nail Lacquer (L to R): 479 Pearly Golden Sesame, 511 Metallic Mercury Purple, 372 Nude, 338 Light Lavender and 497 Pearly Indian Violet

Kiko nail polishes are probably my favorite nail polishes of all time. They have a huge selection of colors and they last fairly well on my weak nails. When I saw that these were on sale for only 1€, I had to get them. I chose a lot of shimmery shades, because I already have a lot of creamy shades at home and those looked more unique. I love that Kiko makes interesting unique shades that you can't always find among other drugstore brands.

Plantae Sea Buckthorn Berry Night Cream*

I haven't fully made up my mind about these two products. This night cream has an interesting very natural herbal scent. It's lightweight and absorbs well into the skin. I'm not sure if this will be enough for colder months, but for now it nicely nourishes the skin

Plantae Bitter Orange Blossom Spritz*

I love the scent of this spritz. It's very bitter orange, very natural. It feels refreshing and adds slight layer of moisture to prepare the skin for further skin care. I love the feel of it on my face and I usually spritz quite a lot of it on. It's also great as a moist base that helps to absorb other products better.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Stay On Lip Contouring Pencil in 071 Cherry Kiss and 011 Spice

I bought a few Rimmel products, because they were also on sale. In colder months, especially in fall, I love to use darker lipsticks and I love to line my lips with lip liners. I've tried these in the store and the formula seemed really buttery, but not too creamy. I got one purple shade for all my plum lipsticks and one darker peachy nude for all my neutral lipsticks. I haven't tried them on my lips yet.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in 010 Santa Rose

I saw this blush on Mateja and knew I had to get it. It's very pretty light peachy blush with almost brick undertone. It has very small silver shimmer in it that gives it a lovely sheen. The thing I like the most about it is how light it is. You can go from barely there blush to a bit more intense look.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Levre Barrier Repairing Balm

Since colder month are inevitably approaching, I'm already thinking of my lip care. I tend to get really dry cracked lips and it's always mission impossible to find products that repair them as quickly as possible. I saw this repairing balm on sale and decided to give it a try. It's a thicker transparent cream that leaves a rather moisturizing buttery layer on the lips. I haven't used it a lot yet.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick

Another Mateja enabled purchase. She swears by it and since it was on sale, I gave it a go. It's actually a really light, buttery but not sticky formula. I love the scent of it, which kind of reminds me of cocoa. When I was reading about best natural remedies for cracked lips, cocoa butter was mentioned a lot. I have cocoa and coconut butter at home and it actually worked really soothing, so I like this one too. It's not a heavy duty lip balm, more so a good regular daily balm.

Catrice Lash Dresser Comb Mascara

This was a surprise. I knew I wanted it, when I saw that it has a comb like brush. It defines the lashes for a very natural, but defined look. It can absolutely give you volume as well, but you'll need more than just one coat. Too much of it can look a bit clumpy. I love this for definition, because it really makes the lashes look defined and separated.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London

I adore mousse texture of these. They're in my opinion best matte liquid lipsticks for those that have dry lips. They're lightweight and don't dry out the lips. I wanted yet another nude shade - London. It's a perfect warm peach based brown. I adore it.

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation

I've heard that some people love it and on others it oxidizes. I've been mixing it with other foundations, because shade 01 is too light for me right now, so I need to test it out a bit more. But so far I like semi matte finish of it and the fact that it feels very lightweight on the skin. It also lasts really well on my skin. I'll have to check if this oxidizes on me, when my skin gets a bit lighter. I also don't find it completely matte. Maybe it's because I use very moisturizing creams underneath it.

Rose Gold Brush Set

I saw these on Makeupsavvy and ordered some for myself. It was a purchase out of curiosity. They looked pretty and I am a bit obsessed with makeup brushes. Since I own some Zoeva brushes, I can safely say that the quality of these is absolutely not the same. Some are better than others.

Buffing foundation brush is soft, fairly dense and does a nice job of blending out foundation. I haven't tried cheek and contour brush yet. Small shader is lovely for underneath lower lash line or for detailed work. It's dense and fairly soft. Angled liner brush is too long for my liking and not dense enough. White shader is a bit fluffier than I expected it too be and scratchy in my opinion. I haven't tried brow brush, because it's too big for my liking. Blending white brush is also scratchy as white shader and I don't like it at all.

got2b 2 Sexy Big Volume Spray Powder

It's basically like a texturizing spray. It's like a mix of hair spray and a bit of dry shampoo. The scent of it is very sweet and smells like artificial raspberries. It actually gives a bit of volume and texture to the hair, but it's till very lightweight.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

I bough this in hopes of finding a good Seche Vite dupe. I only tried it once so far. It dries really quickly, doesn't smudge base color and makes my nails slightly stronger. I don't know how long lasting it is yet. Hopefully, this is as long lasting as Seche Vite, but we'll see.

Sleek Highlighting Palette in Solstice

I heard so much about this palette and was sure that I wouldn't like it. Shades in the pan look totally different and scarily colorful. But once you apply these on the skin, they all look very white based and very reflective. I haven't tried all the shades yet, but those that I have, have impressed me. What I find the most interesting about this palette is the fact that all highlighters have really reflective quality to it. They don't seem heavy on the skin, almost a bit transparent and invisible. You don't see that usually heavy powder swatch, but once you move your head this shines like crazy. It's a really bright in your face highlight and I love it.

Avon Nutra Effects Velvet Soft Moisture With Shia Seeds For Body, Face and Hands*

Avon Nutra Effects Hydration Daily Cream is my favorite face cream. I use it every day and I must be on my third or fourth pot. They also have gel version, which is better for hotter days. I was super excited to see that they also made a larger version for body, face and hands. I've only tried it on my hands so far. It's almost like a mix of daily and gel version. It has a subtle, almost a bit natural scent to it. I like that it's buttery and leaves a bit of that moisturizing layer on my hands. So far I love it.

July 2016 Favorites

Hey Beauties!

July has been a hot month and I've been embracing the glowing makeup look and trying to make my body feel nourished and my hair look less dry. It's been a true summer month and I think August is going to be pretty much the same.

Avon Senses Joyful Tropics Papaya & Peach Shower Gel

In summer time I love to resort to summery smells with all my products. Shower gels are the easiest way to add some tropical scent to your bathroom. I love this one, as you can see, because I've almost used it up. The smell is very sweet, fruity and tropical. I wouldn't say it smells like peach and I don't know how papaya smells, but it's definitely fruity. It's yellow cream that doesn't dry out my skin. My skin is also a lot less sensitive in summer and I haven't gotten any red patches after showering with this one.

Garnier Olia Conditioner

Well this is a random product in my favorites. As you may notice, I color my hair and I always use Garnier Olia hair colors. With the box also comes this conditioner. Since I use more hair colors at once, I have a lot of these conditioners laying around my bathroom. It's probably the best drugstore conditioner that you can get. I think these are sold separately too, but in a tube version. If you have a chance definitely try one. It makes my hair really soft, nourished and healthy looking. It's thicker consistency cream and it has a very hair salon scent to it. The only thing I don't get is why don't they just make this kind of conditioner in their regular range?! Those conditioners that come with hair colors are always so much better, because frankly, they need to make your hair look extra good after you attack them with chemical of hair color.

My favorite face sunscreen and one that I always go back to. It has light liquid creamy consistency that doesn't leave white trace all over your face. It soaks in pretty quickly and leaves behind slightly luminous finish. It doesn't have any perfume, but I can definitely smell some heavy alcohol in the beginning. It doesn't irritate my skin and it never breaks me out. That's why I keep coming back to it.

I was not a fan of this foundation. It seemed really matte at first. In these really hot summer days I needed something more mattifying and I came back to it. It's true that it covers well and I like that the pores look a bit more diminished, especially in this heat. However, I still hate L'Oreal foundation shades. This one is too dark for me (still) and I hate it's orange undertone. I mix it with Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation to make it a bit more yellow and lighter. Sometimes I might even add some of Missha Perfect Cover B.B. Cream. I like it in combination with other foundations and the thing that I like the most is matte finish and slightly blurred skin effect.

I use this with pretty much everything. Lately especially with my foundation. If I said before that I mix together three foundations, I also add this in for a bit more luminous look. Just a small drop can make the skin look a bit more natural and not as dead matte. I think this is one of the best Catrice products and as such should absolutely be in their regular range. Why not even add it to some of foundation formulations? Just a suggestion.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

I got this as a gift from Sandra and I immediately fell in love with it. It's not necessary product, but once you have it, you just find the time to use it. I like that it has gorgeous bronzed golden shimmer in it and it seems like it's a bit tinted, which means it also adds just a small tint of color. I love to apply this on my arms and legs, if I wear a dress. It also smells so good, nutty and a bit oriental. I might even start putting it in my hair.

H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blusher Apricot

Gorgeous satin finish and beautiful apricot shade that almost has a bit of pink in it. It looks great with pretty much all my makeup looks and I've been wearing it a lot this month. I just adore H&M blushes. Since getting this one, I also got another one Rosy Brown. I love that they have wide range of really light shades and that they are not your typical bright corals and pinks.

Golden Rose Silky Touch Pearl Eyeshadow 121

Golden Rose impressed me with affordable precise. I already bought their nail polishes and really liked wide range of shades. Now I wanted to try some of their eyeshadows. The range is not as huge, but they have some nice shades. This one 121 is one of the best bronzed brown shades with warm golden sheen to it. It's not just the shade, it has great pigmentation and very silky formula. I am really impressed. Shame I didn't get more shades.

Clio Kill Black Waterproof Brush Liner

Another amazing Asian brand brush liner. It has good black color, dries fairy fast and doesn't move through the day. I love the precision of a brush applicator, because you can really make a sharp line. It's just really nice and I have nothing bad to say about it.

Who would have thought that I would have not one, but three blue nail polishes featured in my favorites. I always say I'm not a fan of blue, but it seems I just haven't used the right blues before.

Avon Magic Effects Neon Electric Blue Nail Polish

Amazing vibrant true electric blue shade that looks bright and perfect for summer. It has lots of small blue shimmer that makes it extra sparkly.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Nail Polish Minty

This one is a perfect mix of pastel blue and pastel green, which means I would call it perfect mint shade. It looks really pretty on the nails and is definitely a crowd pleaser.

Kiko Nail Lacquer 530 Pearly Blue Peacock

When I saw it in the store, I was mesmerized. It look so pretty in the bottle and it actually translates the same on nails. This is seriously a true peacock shade. It looks dark blue and has lots of shimmer which gives it greenish gold sheen. It reflects light beautifully and looks really unique.

These are the only matte liquid lipsticks that I can wear without the fear of getting super dry lips the next day. It's almost mousse like consistency and the shade is my perfect peachy nude. It's actually the lightest liquid lipstick that I own and goes with pretty much every standard warm look.

I've been testing these this month and those three shades became my most used. Iced Mocha is my all time favorite shade of this collection. It's perfect mauve brown shade that looks good on pretty much everybody. Nude Shine is my kind of brown lip gloss with silver shimmer. It looks really juicy and a bit more natural. Rose is perfect muted pink that goes with so many different makeup looks. I adore this shade almost as much as Iced Mocha, but Iced Mocha is a bit more versatile.
