Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Berlin

This was to be expected. I wasn't finished with buying NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. It's one of my favorite matte liquid lipstick formulas and I feel like I finally have a collection of colors that I really wanted. My latest edition is perfect chocolaty fall shade called Berlin.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams have a small lip gloss plastic tube that has the color of shade outside and a black matte plastic top. It's compact and great to travel with.

In it is 8 ml of product and I got it for 8.95€ in Douglas.

It has regular doe foot applicator that doesn't hold too much product. You get just enough to apply a thin coat, but I usually go in with another for a more intense and darker color.

These have a mousse whipped like consistency that spreads easily. It needs quite a lot of time to completely dry down, especially if you apply thicker coat. At first it looks creamy and has a bit of sheen, but it dries down to matte finish.

Berlin is the darkest shade I own from NYX and the pigmentation is good, but you still need to apply a thicker coat to get fully opaque look. I think that with lighter shades you can only apply one sheer coat and looks more even.

It's not as long lasting as a proper matte liquid lipstick, so you'll need to reapply it after drinking a lot or eating.

I especially love these because of the ultra comfortable formula. It's not hydrating, but it doesn't feel tightening or uncomfortably dry like proper matte liquid lipstick. It stays more velvet on the lips and doesn't feel heavy either. But it also means that it transfers.

All of these lipsticks have a wonderful sweet vanilla scent

Berlin is what I call medium chocolate warm brown shade. It has definite warm undertone to it. On me it actually looks quite dark - darker than it appears on these photos, but it's still more of a medium tone in general.

I have nothing similar in color. Avon Mark Plump It Lipstick in Truffle is a burgundy brown shade and looks much more redish. Avon True Supreme Nourishing Lipstick in Smooth Mocha is a sheerer formula and more of a cooler brown. Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Marvelous Mocha is much lighter warm nude brown with hints of peach and pink.

It's by far one of my favorite chocolate browns, because it's so warm toned and I feel like it matches so well with my brown eye color. Perfect for all of you that like a good chocolate brown lipstick.

My collection of NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams now includes:
Athens
Stockholm
London
Cannes
Berlin

Athens is a true peachy shade. Stockholm is my-lips-but-better warm brownish pink shade. Cannes is a mauve version of a proper nude color. London is a light warm brown nude. Berlin is the darkest and it's a true warm chocolate medium brown.

I think I'm done with buying NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, unless they come out with more shades. I have a good neutral selection with a perfect chocolate pop of color for fall. I love these because of the mousse texture, comfortable feeling and great wearable shades. If you have dry lips in general and want a good matte liquid lipstick, I always recommend these. The selection of colors is huge as well.

Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - London

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are my favorite liquid matte lipsticks. They are the best formula for those of you who suffer from dry lips and hate tight feeling of extremely drying liquid lipsticks. I get that so many love those, because they stay on your lips like nobody's business, but for my lips that also means chapped lips. And those I have to heal for two weeks, if it's that severe. So I'd rather wear formulas that don't further dry out my lips.

These lip creams have a standard plastic tube packaging. The tube is usually in the color of the product. Top is matte black. In each is 8 ml of product and costs 7.04€ on Feelunique.

It has a soft fluffy doe foot applicator which works good. I have no problem applying the product. I also never use any lip liners with these, because I can get a precise line. It can sometimes be too much product on the applicator, especially if you want to apply a thin layer. But that can be solved.

Since I already had peachy and mauve nude shade, I also wanted brown. London is warm, almost nude, light brown. On me it's more brown than nude, because I have fair skin tone. This will look like a nude shade on medium to dark skin tones. Keep in mind that it looks lighter on my photos than it does on me in real life.

It's a whipped mousse like texture that applies well and wears even better. It's a bit shiny at first, but after a few minutes (10 to 15 min) it dries to a matte finish. NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams need a bit longer to dry down completely, but they still wear lovely. If you don't drink or eat, it lasts up to few hours. If not, you'll need to reapply it. It doesn't cake up, even if you apply more layers on top. It also wears of pretty evenly. In the middle of the lips it's when it usually starts getting off first, because of eating and drinking.

This formula never dries out my lips which I really appreciate. It also feels very lightweight.

Pigmentation is on the medium side and you can apply really thin layer or build up to fully opaque look. I prefer this, because it can be applied thinly which also means it's not as drying or cakey looking.

I already have Athens (light peachy brown) and Stockholm (peachy mauve brown). London is the most brown of these all. But they are all in the nude range and on the lighter side of shades.

Athens is the lightest and looks the most peachy of them all. It also has hint of pink to it. Stockholm looks the most pink or rather mauve based of these all. But it also has a bit of peach undertone on me and brown in it as well. London is the most neutral (but still warm toned) brown of these all and is about the same darkness as Stockholm.

I love wearing all of these on their own or mixing them together. Athens in the center and London on the edges or Stockholm on the center of the lip and London on the edges.

I didn't find any dupe in my collection. Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in shade Marvelous Mocha seemed the most similar, but is in fact a lot darker and more red based while London seems more yellow based brown.

My excitement over NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams doesn't seem to be ending. I already ordered Cannes and will probably buy more shades in the future. If you have naturally dry lips and want liquid matte lipstick that doesn't dry out your lips or feel heavy on the lips, this is it. I also appreciate NYX for offering so many neutral tones. In most drugstores I always find reds and pinks, but to be honest, I don't wear those everyday. I just love my neutrals. Mousse texture, matte finish and comfortable wear are a winners in my book.

Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Athens

Hey Beauties!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams have become my little obsession these couple of months. I find them the best matte liquid lipstick formula for my needs. I've already had Stockholm before and now I also got Athens. In the future I'm planning on getting London as well.

I like that NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams come in a fairly small and sleek plastic packaging with black plastic top. Shade of packaging should be indicator of the shade that is inside. It has regular fluffy doe foot applicator, which works fine. I mentioned in Stockholm that it holds too much product, but I don't have that problem with Athens. You'll even need to go back in to get more product.

I got mine for a little over 10€ and it is 8 ml of product (which is more than any other liquid lipsticks that I own). It hurts me knowing that these cost like 5$ in USA, but in Europe they are usually a lot more expensive.

Athens is light peachy brown shade. It's definitely one of those nude colors, but warmer and peachier. I think it's one of the lightest lipsticks, especially among liquid lipsticks, that I own. I also like that it's not a true peach, because those can often times make your teeth look very yellow.

Formula of these is creamy, but almost like a mousse consistency. It's definitely not as liquid as most matte liquid lipsticks. I've noticed difference between Athens and Stockholm. Stockholm is a lot more liquid and Athens seems drier and like there isn't as much product inside. I don't know if that is shade problem or the fact that I might have gotten older product.

Pigmentation is like a medium, because it can go on very sheer. You can obviously build it up and since this is light shade, I don't have a problem with not being even or covering my lips.

It's the most lightweight formula of any matte lip products that I tried so far. Sometimes I even forget that I have it on. This never dries out my lips and it doesn't become super matte and cement like.

It needs 10-15 min to dry to matte finish. Some see that as a con, but I don't have a problem with that. As I've said, the finish is matte, but not that super drying cement matte.

It lasts fairly well (I don't check it every hour), but it won't survive eating and it's not kiss proof. It goes off evenly and it doesn't look patchy.

I absolutely adore this shade. It's probably my new favorite nude, because it's peachy nude. It's fairly warm, but I like the fact that the shade is light. Pairing it with warm eyeshadows and peach blushes will make it look extra pretty.

Athens is actually unique shade in my collection. I don't have anything that could pass as a dupe. The closest I got to it was the shade Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte in Au Naturale. This one is a lot more brown, but has that same warm peachy undertone, although it's more yellow based than Athens. It's also a few shades darker. Stockholm is a lot more mauve based brown compared to Athens. It's also a few shades darker.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are winners in my book. I highly recommend you these, if you don't like that cement matte finish and have naturally drier lips. I also love the fact that there's nice range of nude shades. This is the thing that really bothers me with most matte liquid lipsticks, they're all very bright and in your face, but let's face it, I will mostly wear nudes. It's really hard to find good matte nude shade in our drugstores. These are also really lightweight, have fairly good staying power and go off evenly. I will say that there might be differences in consistency depending on what shade you get, so do research before.

Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm

Hey Beauties!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams have been on my wish list for ages. I remember seeing these all over the internet and the hype was huge. Of course, NYX is not available in our country, like most other amazing affordable foreign brands. When I saw these on Feelunique it was an instant opportunity to finally order my first shade. I chose Stockholm.

The packaging is very simple plastic lip gloss tube. I like that it's small, so you can even stick it in your pocket. The shade of plastic should in a way represent the shade inside. Top is matte black

I bough it on Feelunique for 7.26€. In the tube is 8 ml of product.

The applicator is very soft and kind of fluffy. It's a regular size and it spreads the product nicely

I chose the shade Stockholm and I am so happy with it. It's a nice light peachy mauve brown, just my kind of shade. It actually looks lighter on photos than in real life. It's definitely a warm nude light to medium shade, but it's still a lot darker than my natural lip color.

It's very lightweight, pigmented, but thinner cream product. It leaves you a lot of time to work with, before it dries up completely. There is a lot of product on the applicator and I like to take it off a bit on the sides and slowly work up the opacity. It's very easy to spread over the lips and you don't need any kind of lip liner. You can really smudge and make straight lines around the edges of the lips.

Drying time depends on how thick layer you put on. I like to go in with a thin layer to outline the lips and then go over it for a fuller look. In about 10 minutes this looks like it's dry on the lips, although it still transfers on glass or food. It will never be like those super dry and long wearing matte cream lipsticks.

As with any matte lip products, it could accentuate dry patches, so you do need to exfoliate, if you have any. I find that it wears nicely. I don't check out my lipstick through the day, but it stays on the lips even if I drink. Obviously it won't survive eating. It wears off mostly in the center, like most of the lipsticks.

I absolutely love how lightweight this is on the lips. It doesn't tighten or makes my lips dry at all. I am astonished by the formula and really want to get some more shades.

It smells sooo good. I can't figure it out what of. To me it's like a vanilla hot chocolate or vanilla ice cream

Here you can see how it looks like on my skin tone. Bare in mind that it looks darker in real life. It would look pretty natural on someone with medium skin tone.

I think that this is not for you, if you want something sickly matte and very long lasting. It transfers and it never looks super super matte. All the things that some may not love are the reasons why I love it so much. It doesn't dry out my lips and keeps them quite nice all through the day. It feels very lightweight on the lips and I adore the shade. It's totally my kind of brown twist on a peachy nude. I would say this is dry lips persons dreamy matte lip product.
