Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Cannes

It's not a secret that I love NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. For me personally, those are the best liquid matte lipsticks. I like them, because they are not drying and I have dry lips in general. I got my fourth shade Cannes, which I'll be reviewing today.

It has plastic tube packaging in the color of the shade inside. Top is plastic matte black. I got it for 5.50£ on Boots. In it is 8 ml of product.

Doe foot applicator is pretty classic and soft, kind of fluffy. It applies product evenly and there's enough on it for whole lips.

Shade Cannes is medium warm mauve. It might lean towards brown on certain skin tones and depending on your skin tone it can look warmer or cooler. On me it looks like a warm mauve. Definitely more pink toned than it looks like on Mateja.

I like the shade, because it has that warm brown and kind of peachy undertone. It definitely still goes into my kind of neutrals range. I don't like too pink shades and this one is just mauve enough.

I also compared it to some other shades, but found no dupes which is great for me. It means I didn't waste my money.

Avon 3D Plumping Lipstick in Divine Wine is even more purple mauve toned shade and kind of deeper. Bourjois Rouge Edition 12 Hours in shade 33 is a more peachier alternative. It's definitely brighter, warm and a bit lighter in shade.

Texture of these lip cream is like a whipped mousse. It goes on really smooth and applies evenly. You can sheer it out or build it up for a more opaque look. Cannes has good pigmentation.

I like vanilla scent that these have. It makes for an enjoyable application.

They are not drying on the lips, although you will still feel them, if you have very dry lips. They apply shiny and need about 10 to 15 minutes to dry to matte finish. It depends on how thick your layer is.

Because the formula is so wearable and non-drying these are not the most long lasting matte lipsticks. In all honesty, these stay on my lips for a really long time, if I don't eat or drink too much, otherwise you will need to reapply them. Especially on the inner corners.

On first photo is how it looks like right after application (has quite a lot of shine to it) and on the second photo it is dried down to a matte finish.

Shades usually look lighter on photos than they do on me in real life. So keep in mind that Cannes looks a bit darker in real life.

I decided to swatch my collection of four shades for you to get a better idea as to how these compare. As you can see Stockholm is the closest to Cannes, but is in fact lighter and a lot more brown based or rather peachy. On me these both still look pink toned, but Cannes is a much more mauve shade and slightly darker.

You can read reviews of other shades:

I absolutely adore NYX Matte Lip Creams, because they don't feel drying on my dry lips, they apply lovely and have a huge selection of nude shades. These are not the most long lasting and crazy pigmented matte lipstick, but are total winners in the category of matte comfortable wear.

Review: Essence Hello Autumn lip cream and eye pencil

Hey Beauties!

Essence recently came out with Hello Autumn limited edition. I never planned to get anything from that collection, but look at me... I still got their eye pencil and one of the lip creams. Products that are not planned, are usually the best. In my case, it really is true.

Essence Hello Autumn Lip Cream in C02 Keep Calm & Go For a Walk

I got this, because in the back it said it's a semi matt finish. Lately, I just love those finishes and I've been saying why doesn't Bourjois makes a more natural or nude shades of their Velvets. Well, this Essence in the shade C02 Keep Calm & Go For a Walk was my answer (my very cheap answer, that is).

The packaging is plastic and looks the same as their old Stay Matte Lip Creams. Standard Essence applicator. There's 4 ml of product in it and it costs 2.19 €.

The texture is very pigmented and thick, yet creamy. It nicely spreads all over the lips. I think you need a thin layer to get the color. If you put on too much it may leave thick lines around your inner lips. I find it sits lightly on the lips, doesn't feel sticky or anything. It's creamy at the beginning, but after a while it sets into  this semi matte finish, which also looks very similar to their old versions of Stay Matte Lip Creams. The only difference in my opinion, the old versions felt very powdery on the lips. However this one is light, yet more creamy.

I find that it lasts surprisingly well on my lips. If you put it over lip pencil it will stay on for a very long time. Plus the shade is sort of forgiving. I find that it doesn't dry out my lips at all. I also love the smell of it. It's a really nice sweet subtle scent, that always makes me happy, when I put it on.

The shade is my perfect nude shade. First, because it's a warm toned shade and second, because it's pretty similar to my natural lip color. I would describe it as a dirty peach based pink. I really like the fact that it is not cool toned, like most of the pink shades are.

Essence Hello Autumn Eye Pencil in 01 Leaves Are The New Beef

The shade of this pencil looked so pretty, that I had to get it. It's a standard eye pencil that has two sides. On one side is the pencil and on the other is rubber smudge thing. This can be used to smudge or blend the pencil, once you've applied it. It has 1.80 g of product and costs 1.59 €.

The pencil is so buttery that it glides on the skin like nobody's business. I love love that kind of formulas. It's also pigmented enough and if you use the smudger, you get a very soft line, that is blended out. If you're looking for a very buttery and soft eye pencil, you need this.

The shade is also a very my kind of shade. It's a beautiful copper based brown. I think it really does look like autumn shade. It has that very beautiful coppery shine to it. It's not shimmery, but it just gives a copper shine to the color. I find it wears nicely, but I never have problems with eye products fading away.

Here you can see how both products look on me. I have to say, Essence you did a good job, with these products. I love the shade of lip cream as well as the semi matte finish. I also really like the shade of eye pencil and the fact that it's so nicely buttery. Thumbs up for both of them. If you like any of these, be sure to buy them, before they change up the LE.

Did you get anything else from Essence's Hello Autumn LE? How do you like it?
