March 2019 Favorites

In March I have been really consistent with my skin care and I have actually included a lot of new products in my daily routine. Since I usually just talk about makeup, this is a nice change. I also discovered some new makeup along with using those all time favorites that are my staple.

The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane

I have had this for quite a while, because I need only one drop for my whole face. It's a milder version of vitamin A or retinol. This is formulated in squalane which is emollient hydrator, so it makes it feel almost like a dry oil. I usually use it after hydrating essences, because of its thicker texture. I use it at night time and since I have started to use it regularly this winter again, I always notice that my skin's texture is just smoother. I don't see any major effect with fine lines, although my smile lines seem to have gotten less visible. But to me this is great product for keeping my skin clearer and smoother. It's gentle, so I feel no irritation.

Avon Nutra Effects Active Moisture Mattifying Day Cream SPF15

I already raved about Hydration Day and Night cream from this same range. Those are my favorite creams and I use them all the time. But recently, I noticed that my t zone got oilier and I wanted to try Mattifying versions of their Nutra Effects range. So far I have been using Day Cream which is lighter than day version from Hydration range. It's also white colored easily spreadable cream that feels moisturizing, but doesn't have that emollient feel and sheen on the skin. It soaks in the skin well and doesn't look too sheeny. It is scented, but it's one of those soothing scents. I find it to be perfect for normal to combination skin, because my skin doesn't get too shiny too quickly, but it still feels moisturizing enough. I use it now in the winter and I might start using Gel version in the summer when my skin gets even oilier.

Avon Golden Mushroom Sleep Mask

I like this as the last step in my evening skin care routine. I always say, I don't care for fragrance in skin care and it's true, I prefer unscented things, but when something smells nice, I like it too. And this sleeping mask is thicker white cream that has lovely almost a bit sleepy powdery scent. For me, this is perfect for night time. It acts as the last thickest layer on my skin that seals in all my actives and lighter products. Even though it's a bit thicker, it still spreads with ease and gives your skin that protective layer.

Avon Cica Facial Sheet Mask To Soothe And Restore Glow

This sheet mask impressed me more than I thought it would. I wasn't all that sure about Avon doing Korean skin care products, but since these are actually made in Korea, I had higher hopes. It's one of those cotton type sheet masks that fits fairly well. It was also saturated well and the sheet itself was on the thinner side. It's main selling point is centella asiatica which is a very soothing herb. I have to say this formula felt so nice on the skin. It was really soothing, hydrating and nourishing all at once. My skin was also more even toned in general when I took it off and there was that nourishing layer left on the skin which I love so much. It's more than just your basic thinner hydrating sheet mask.

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation 036 Hazelnut Beige

This has to be one of my favorite drugstore foundations, besides Revlon Colorstay (I usually have it in the shade 010 Light Beige). I was so glad that Catrice finally expended the shade range. 036 Hazelnut Beige is one of those more medium shades that is a bit too dark for me, but I love the undertone which is warm and slightly olive toned. I love mixing it with my lighter foundation to give my mix that olive warmth that matches better with my skin tone on the body. Texture is more liquid, very lightweight, has good medium coverage and in general wears well with a semi matte finish.

Many don't know about this drugstore gem that I found in Austrian Bipa store. It's one of those perfect neutral shades with slightly thicker formula that has really good coverage. I love to use this when I want something light in the shade that covers quickly and doesn't look too thick or too matte. I have been using it a lot this past month.

Flexitarian is definitely one of my all time favorite highlighters. This slightly mousse like formula has no comparison. It applies well over powder or cream base and gives you the most intense champagne glow with cooler sheen. It's so glowy, yet has no visible shimmer in it and actually looks like it's part of the skin. I am so impressed with this formula and I use it a lot, especially when I wear minimal makeup with lighter base.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow Ladybird

I have been searching for a good dupe for shade Birthday Girl and although Ladybird is not, I still love this shade. It's fairly light champagne beige base with intense silver and pink glitter. The glitter in it is quite chunky which I love. I also love the fact that the base is so light, because this can be perfect eyeshadow topper for when you want to add something shiny. I usually just use it on its own for that glossy glitter lid look. Because of the mousse formula the glitter sticks well to the skin and doesn't have any fallout.

Avon True Matte Lipstick Nude Suede

Avon recently came out with a whole nude range of their matte lipstick formula. I loved the formula before and really wanted some more nude shades, because to be honest, I wear those the most. Nude Suede is the perfect my-lips-but-better shade for me. It's like that brownish pink nude that has enough warmth to it. This pairs so well with pretty much all makeup looks and I have been wearing it a lot this past month. This is definitely going to become one of my new favorite nude lipsticks. Formula is velvet matte and it never feels drying which is why I love it so much.
