Review: Avon Herstory Eau de Parfum

Avon released new fragrance for International Women's Day called Herstory. It celebrates women around the world and encourages them to say their story. It's one of woody floral mixes.

Packaging

It comes in a very simple transparent glass bottle  with red writing and silver details. Transparent cap is plastic.

In it is 50 ml of eau de parfum and it usually costs around 20€.

Fragrance

Top notes: bergamot, peach blossom, bourbon pepper
Middle notes: immortelle, rose, iris
Base notes: patchouli, vetiver, benzoin

It starts off sort of spicy with a hint of citrus freshness which quickly develops into a more sweeter floral scent. It finishes with a subtle woody note that still has some punch and a bit of sweetness to it. That's the best explanation that I can give you.

I was sure this was going to be another typical floral fragrance from Avon, but it surprised me. It's sort of fresh in a way, but more than not a very woody fragrance without the usual sweetness that is so prevalent in certain Avon perfumes. I also like that it's not too floral for my taste, but I would describe it as a woody floral fragrance

Performance

It's not one of those strong sweet fragrance that gives a punch of scent, but it lasts on me fairly well. But then again, I am not the right address for accessing this, since most fragrances last descent on me.

I like it more than several floral fragrances from Avon, since this one has quite a bit of that woodiness to it. I would have loved it even more, if bourbon pepper would linger longer and maybe be in the base notes. Florals aren't as prevalent, which I like, but it may just be a bit too fresh for my personal taste. However, I still wear it as it has that something that appeals to me especially now in this spring weather. I've seen Avon do better bottles though and I would have liked a luxurious packaging to go with this kind of grown up scent.
