Review: Max Factor Makeup - Powder, Mascara, Lipstick

A while ago, I received beautiful package with Max Factor makeup products. Special thing about it was that the lipstick had my name and surname engraved in the packaging. I never got any personalized makeup products like that before and I think it is so nice and special.

I already have a review of this powder here, but basically it had such a heavy scent to that I didn't want it to use. And the shade wasn't all that translucent.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume Mascara - Black

This is a cult mascara that has been on the market for a really long time. There must be something about it. Every makeup artist loves it and apparently customers too or it wouldn't have been present for such a long period of time. I was excited to try it out.

Packaging

It comes in a regular round plastic black packaging with gold details. It has that regular bushy wand that has wider bristles at the bottom and smaller at the top or tip. It coats the lashes fine and isn't too big.

In it is 9 ml of product and it costs 9.99€

Formula

It's a nice formula which means it's not too wet, but also doesn't feel dry. It applies well and I don't feel it being heavy at all. As it dries up, it can start to look clumpier, because there's more product on the wand.

Colors

I believe it comes in more shades, but I have it in black color.

Performance

First coat gives lashes a bit of length, some volume and nice separation. It looks natural, but just gives you more definition and color. Second coat gives a lot more volume, but there still a good amount of separation. I feel like you can't get it really clumpy looking.

What surprised me the most was that the lashes looked defined, longer and a bit thicker, but still very much natural. This is not like L'Oreal Paradise Extatic where your lashes look fake. It looks much more natural, but still noticeably better than without any mascara.

It held my curl well. My main problem with this mascara was the smudging. It smudged and crumbled a bit on me and I was surprised, because usually mascaras don't smudge on me at all.

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick - 730 Flushed Fuchsia

Packaging

My lipstick came with an engraved cap with my name on it and I thought this was so special and such a nice gesture. I will definitely keep it forever. It comes in gold square plastic design. You can see the shade at the bottom. Bullet has X embossed in it.

In doesn't say how much product is in it, but it costs 9.69€.

Formula

It's a thinner formula that is very smooth and applies easily on the lips. Pigmentation is a bit sheerer, but two to three swipes give you nice color payoff.

It has sweet scent to it.

Colors

These lipsticks come in 27 shades, but shade choice in our drugstores is smaller. I have 730 Flushed Fuchsia. Name is deceiving. It's actually a pale peach with golden shimmer

Finish is pearly and and it reminds me of the "old school" lipsticks that my mother used to wear. I personally don't like that finish at all, it's outdated to me. But this one thankfully doesn't have as strong of a sheen.

Max Factor recently added a lot of new shades to their collection. They finally updated this range with wearable cream and matte finishes. Shade selection looks really nice too. I already swatched some of them in the store and I might buy some shade to wear this personalized cap on it.

Performance

It's thinner formula, so it doesn't stick to the lips so well and it's not long lasting.  But it feels very lightweight and non-drying. Pearly sheen will emphasize every wrinkle and fine line or your lips.

I wasn't a fan of their pressed powder, because it was so heavily scented and translucent shade had a bit of color to it and wasn't all that transparent. Their 2000 Calorie mascara is a cult product by now and I can understand why. It's a very basic, but good mascara that gives you a bit of everything, but doesn't make your lashes look fake. I only wanted it to be more smudge proof. Lipsticks had such an old school finish that I wasn't getting down with it. But they recently launched new formulas with cream and matte finishes and I believe those will be so much nicer. I did however love personalized cap and I hope I can use it on some of their new lipsticks.

  1. the 2000 calories comes in 3 colors - Black, Black Brown and Navy. I agree - the Translucent is anything but translucent, it's quite dark. I have mine in Natural and it has a decent coverage in combo with a concealer (am not a fan of foundations)

    1. Thank you for the info. :) It's a weird shade for being names translucent. I usually prefer translucent loose powders anyway. I liked a few of their foundation, but the shade range in my country is so poor. We basically only get medium skin tone shades.
