Revlon's new Photoready Candid foundation first got on my radar on IG. Someone used it in their video and I liked how it looked. Then I saw it on Lookfantastic and since I trust Revlon formulas, I decided to give it a go. I've been so stuck with my foundations lately that I really wanted to try something new. 

Packaging

Revlon finally figured their packaging out. Who remembers Colorstay without the pump? Serious drawback! But their new Candid foundation comes in a plastic tube with pump. This is pretty much my perfect foundation packaging. It's hygienic and easy to use. Cap is transparent plastic. 

There is less foundation in it then usual, only 22 ml of product, but the price is also a bit cheaper. I got it for around 9€ on Lookfantastic. 

Formula

Revlon says this is medium coverage, lightweight, hydrates and looks like your best skin. It is formulated with anti-pollution, antioxidant and anti-blue-light ingredients to protect your skin. It doesn't contain any oils, parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes and harsh fragrances. 

It's got liquid formula, but it's thicker than most, so you have to blend it out quickly. It sets much faster than Colorstay, which I find to be a plus, because it doesn't slide or leave trace marks all over the face. It's got about medium coverage, because it evens out skin tone and covers minor imperfections, but some redness still shows through. You can build it up, but in my opinion, it looks best with just one coat, because it can start to look more obvious the more you build it up. 

Finish is semi-matte, but there seem to be some reflective pigments in it which give your skin that faint healthy sheen that looks more natural than a proper matte finish. My skin stays slightly tacky after application, so I always set it with powder, but if you don't get oily, you don't need to set it. 

Colors

It comes in 31 shades, but shade selection depends on where you buy it. I haven't seen it in Slovenian stores yet, but it may still come. I chose one of the light/medium shades as they describe it. 

120 Buff is not the same as 150 Buff in Colorstay Combination/Oily foundation. 120 Buff is slightly darker and more yellow toned, but it dries down to a slight peachy yellow undertone. As it's setting, it also becomes darker than it looks at first. Keep that in mind when buying, because the difference in shades can be quite obvious. It's more suited for darker light skin tones. If you're pale, go lighter. It matches more my slight tan complexion. Now that I got even more tanned, it's already a bit light.

Comparison

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation 010 Light Beige - the darkest out of all the three and more of neutral to warm undertone.

Revlon Colorstay Combination/oily Foundation 150 Buff -  the lightest out of the three and yellow warm to neutral olive toned.

Revlon Photoready Candid Foundation 120 Buff - slightly darker than Colorstay Buff and a bit more peachy yellow warm. 

Performance

Despite having fairly good coverage and giving your skin some sheen, this is still more of a matte finish, so it will emphasize dry patches. I found that to be the case with some textured parts of my face, where I didn't exfoliate well. It wears well, because it feels fairly lightweight on the skin and I never had any patchiness with it. I found it to be descent when it came to long lasting power. If you have oily skin, you will need to powder it in between. 

I feel like this is going to be either love it or hate it foundation. To me it seems almost like Colorstay's summer sister. It sets quicker, but still provides with good enough coverage and doesn't look too flat. It doesn't have as impressive staying power as Colorstay, but it makes it up with a more lightweight feel on the skin. Shade selection might be a problem with it drying down darker though and it emphasizes dry patches. I feel like this formula is best suited for normal to combination skin. I personally like it for the summer. It gives me immediate descent coverage and the fact that it dries down so quickly and sets semi-matte, makes it great for those quick summer makeup looks. When I want heavier coverage and bullet proof makeup, I'll still go back to Colorstay.
