Review: Essence Micro Precise Eyebrow Pencil - 02 light brown

Essence added new Micro Precise Eyebrow Pencils to their range. In an instant I saw these, it reminded me of Catrice Slim'matic version. After all, it's the same brand and they are both known for bringing out similar products. I love these tiny brow pencils for defining the edges of my brows.

Packaging

Pencil is thin and plastic. Outside color should indicate the color inside. Tip is only 1.5 mm wide, so it's a very thin pencil. You just twist the bottom and it comes out. On the other side it doesn't have a spoolie which is a big minus in my eyes.

In it is 0.05 grams of product and it costs 2.19€

Formula

Formula has surprisingly nice glide to it, but it's in no way greasy or smudgy. It just glides on the skin much easier than for example Catrice Slim'matic pencil. It has more of a sheerer pigmentation to where it looks like a tint. Like the tint that those marker for brows usually leave on the skin.

It also looks much more even applied on the skin whereas Catrice Slim'matic has more of a waxy texture which grabs on the skin texture and leaves blobs of color on certain parts.

Colors

Currently there are three colors available: 01 blonde, 02 light brown and 03 dark brown. Catrice already added some new shades, so I'm assuming Essence will do the same, if these sell well.

02 light brown is light to medium grey brown.

Catrice Eyebrow Stylist 020 Date With Ash-ton - medium grey brown. This one has the most warmth to it out of all these three shades.
Catrice Slim'matic Ultra Precise Brow Pencil 030 Dark - medium to dark grey brown. Compared to other browns this one seems to be the darkest and has a bit less warmth to it than Catrice Eyebrow Stylist.
Essence Micro Precise Eyebrow Pencil 02 light brown - the most grey based brown out of the three and also the lighters in color. More on the light to medium spectrum. It's also the sheerest.

Performance

This is waterproof as it says on the packaging. It stays on the brows for the whole day with no problem. In general, it's a long wearing product.

I am surprised to say that this formula glides on the skin way better than Catrice Slim'matic version. It also looks more even on the skin, because of the formula and gives off a more natural shading due to the grey based shade and slight sheerness in pigmentation. They both have very thin tip and both formulas are waterproof. Essence is cheaper which is the main reason why I will repurchase it, plus the fact that the color looks more natural on me. If it had a spoolie on the other side, this would be perfect. However, Catrice also has more shades to choose from. In general, this is a really good drugstore product and I definitely recommend it, if you find your shade.
