Review: E.l.f. Makeup Lock & Seal

Hey Beauties!

This has been sitting in my drawer for almost a year. I don't even have a good explanation for it. I tried it once, it was the wrong application and I hated it. Now I tried it another way and I love it.

It's E.l.f. Makeup Lock & Seal. This is one of those sealing liquids that should seal in your makeup. I heard about this and how good it is, but wasn't really convinced, until I finally googled how to use it and tried it.

In the set you get the liquid, small standard eyeshadow brush and one clear pot. It costs 3$ and you get 15 ml of it.

The liquid is in a plastic black packaging. It's small and compact.

The brush is also black with synthetic black bristles. For my taste this is too hard to use on the lids. I usually just use my usual eyeshadow brushes with it.

The clear pot is very small, but big enough to fit in eyeshadow brushes.

The texture is very liquid, almost like water. The opening is perfect to get out one small drop. One drop is all you need for one eyeshadow application.

I put one drop in the pot and use my eyeshadow brush and swirl it in the pot. I try to coat the brush as even as possible. The brush will be a bit wet. Then I just swirl it a bit on the tissue, to get off any excess. When the brush is lightly damp I pick up eyeshadow and apply it as normally.

If the brush is too wet it might leave some residue on the eyeshadow itself. It may also be a bit harder to blend the eyeshadow, because it's a lot more intense looking and it can get patchy quickly.

That being said, if you blend it properly and pack it on, this will stay for a whole day and not move at all.

As you can see I did my usual eyeshadow. I put some matte shadow in the crease, some shimmery shade all over the lid and some in the inner corner. I also applied the sealer on the liner brush.

You can basically use it with everything. With lipsticks, blushes, eyeshadows, eyeliners... But I really wanted this to work for eyeshadow. I assume this would be amazing for glitter on the eyes or pigments.

The eyeshadow stayed perfect for the whole day. Of course I had to try it in one of those extremely hot summer days. I swear, my eye makeup was melting this month. It was so hot outside and I was sweaty and the makeup was sliding of my face. But with this, nothing. It stayed exactly how I applied it. I am seriously impressed.

I also used it on my eyebrows with my eyebrow powder and it was just as perfect.

I speared you from showing my entire face, because trust me, you do not wanna see how my foundation looks after 12 hours.

If you use small amount and really build up the intensity, this is magic. It will seal in your makeup and it will stay perfect for the entire day. It's so cheap and so effective. Elf did it again. I love this brand and can't wait to buy more of their products.

Review: Elf Cream Eyeliner - Plum Purple

Hey Beauties!

I've declared my love for Elf eyeliner in their brown version here. It's no wonder that I decided to purchase another shade, purple. Purple works good with my eye color and I find it brights up my eyes, so I decided why not.

It's a plastic pot with screw top and you get 4.7 grams of product. The price varies from where you buy it. It's around 3€, somewhere more, somewhere less. Wait for discount and you'll be fine. You also get a small liner brush, which I personally don't use, because it's too hard for my taste.

Plum Purple is deep plum shade with cool undertone. It almost has blue sheen to it. As I've said before, I like that their eyeliners are darker versions of colors, because even if I go for an eyeliner, I still want it to be dark.

The texture is very cream and you have to be careful with application. You may need to go over a line to get the full opacity and make it perfect, but once you perfect it, it will dry and stay put for all day. I won't go into detail, because it's pretty much the same experience with the Coffee eyeliner and you can read more in-depth review here.

Two makeup looks to show you how eyeliner looks like on the skin.

If I'm completely honest, I expected this shade to be more warm toned. It's still a nice variation to classic black eyeliner and you have many shades to chose from.

Review: Elf Blush Palette (Light)

Hey Beauties!

Blush is one of those things that I always buy in singles. When I saw that Elf has a whole palette of 4 blushes for a very good price, I couldn't pass on that chance. To my surprise the pigmentation and shades amazed me in a positive way.

Elf Blush palette comes in a black matte plastic packaging. It opens and closes nicely and it has a huge mirror inside.

It costs 7.95£ here (they are currently out of stock I think) and you get 4 grams of product.

As you can see on the bottom you have a chance to pop each shade of blush out. It's practical if you want to make your own palette and maybe buy some more shades from Elf to mix and match.

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I already had an accident with this popping out. Basically the system is not flawless. The blushes are stuck in pretty hard and you have to hold the edges when you try to pop it out, otherwise the blush will be flying across your room. Like I did with one. Agrh! I was so angry. I just had to pop it out, before I even took photos of it! Go figure! So yeah, I don't know how much this popping out system can actually be useful.

I think they have three different shades of blush palettes. I got the Light version, which of course has shades suited for light skin tones. I numbered the blushes so you'll know about which I'm talking about.

I swatched the blushes in this order: shade 1, shade 2, shade 3 and shade 4.
1 is matte cool toned light pink, which for some reason looks warm on my skin tone.
2 is matte light brown peach
3 is matte warm red toned pink
4 is red toned orange, which has small gold shimmer in it, but it's almost unnoticeable on the skin. It's actually a bit odd, because the shimmer is so sparse in the blush that you get very little shimmer particles in one swipe. It looks like the shimmer has fallen in by mistake.

I have to apologize that the lighting on photos is different. They were taken at different times, but I hope you'll still see how the blush looks like on me.

Shade 1

Shade 1 has a very noticeable cool blue tone to it, but for some reason it turns into a warm pink on my yellow skin tone, which of course I really like.

Shade 2

Shade 2 looks too brown in the palette, but actually looks like a nice very light peachy brown shade on the skin. It's one of my favorites.

Shade 3

Shade 3 is almost berrry dark pink shade, which looks pretty peachy red on my skin for some reason.

Shade 4

Shade 4 is most my kind of shade, it's  redish orange that looks most natural with my skin tone and hair color.

As far as the texture goes, it's nice powder. Not to dry, it seems like it has that moist feeling to it. All the shades are extremely pigmented. I was very positively surprised. When I take the brush and dip it in, I have to use a very light hand, otherwise I'll end up with a lot of color on my cheeks. I also love the fact that you get 4 different shades to pair with all different looks. It's really amazing.

One thing, this pop out packaging is not my favorite, since you have to be careful not to pop them out every time you hold the back of the packaging. I guess it's nice that it doesn't pop out immediately when you touch it, but that also means it's harder to get it out without breaking it.

I would say definitely get it, if you want variety of good very pigmented shades. I'm thinking of getting some more myself. Elf has been warming up to my heart, lately. I've liked most of their products so far.

Review: E.l.f. Blush Brush

Hey Beauties!

Well, by now you've probably leaned that I am obsessed with highlighters and brushes. Sometimes my brush collection seems way too big for someone who isn't even a makeup artist. Do I really need all of them? Probably not, but I do really enjoy them. There's nothing like a soft brush, when you're applying your makeup on. It seems to be your little spa time every morning.

I have added a new brush to my collection. It's also a really cheap one, but very soft. It's Blush Brush by Elf and it costs only 3$ (around 2.50€). The hair is synthetic and it has a nice black design. I'm not sure if the handle is plastic or wooden, but I would say plastic.

The brush is tapered and it comes to a nice point on the top. It's not as nicely seen on the photo, as it is in person. It's also pretty flat from the sides. For most, it's probably a little on the small side for a blush brush, but I think it's the perfect size. If you want to apply the brush only on the very apples of cheeks, this is the brush for you. It also means that it's pretty much perfect for highlighting, even contouring if you use it from the side. It's also good size for setting the powder with. Basically, perfect for everything.

Brush is extremely soft. That's just how I like my brushes to be. The fact that is pretty dense and flatten it also means it doesn't split all around your face, but can actually give you a pretty intense application. I've since cleaned it a few times and it's still very soft. No hair fallout.

In my book that is a total winner. Dare I say, it can match up to some more expensive brushes?! If you have a chance, I really encourage you to buy this one. I know you won't regret the purchase, because you can really use it for so many different parts of the face and the softness will make your day.

Now I'm planning on buying the powder brush, maybe a fan brush, also regular eye shadow c brush...yeah, you get the idea. For a little over 2€, I don't mind having even more brushes, if it means bringing some softness to my face. :)

Review: E.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

Hey Beauties!

I have tried so many new products and have a lot of reviews to write about. One of the products that I bought is also this bronzer and blush duo by Elf. I got it somewhere in August and have been using it ever since. Especially the bronzer. It has become a staple product in my everyday makeup. Also as a way of maintaining or matching my vacation sun tan :).

The packaging is matte black and plastic. I find that the snap works great at keeping the product safely closed. Inside is a mirror, which is unfortunately not secure. I think it may fall out any time. Maybe it was just glued together badly. The product in it, however, seems to be very secure. I like the sleekness of matte packaging, but find that I get it very dirty.

Inside there's 8.4 grams of product and I bought it for 3$ (approximately 2.34€ or 1.84£) on iHerb. It's safe to say that it's one of the cheapest products for that amount. I heard it is supposed to be a cheap dupe for Nars Orgasm blush and Lagoona bronzer. I don't have these, so I can't say if it is.

The Blush

The blush is a a brick orange shade. I find that it's a dark peach or orange with red undertone. It could almost be a contour shade, that's probably why the name of this product is called Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder. It has a pretty visible gold shimmer. I actually don't really like the fact that the gold glitter is really seen on the skin. Especially on the sun. The shade is really pretty and would suit a lot of people. For very fair skins it could be too dark. I also find it to be very hard to the touch. That means you get less product on the brush and you need to dip into the blush a lot.

The Bronzer

Bronzer has a very warm toned brown shade. It's perfect for warm toned skins. It doesn't seem neither too orange, neither too taupe. It's a really pretty golden brown shade that is perfect for creating sun kissed look. The bronzer also has golden shimmer in it, but it's a lot smaller than in blush. It gives silky glow to the skin. The finish on the skin is really beautiful. Not for those who like it matte, but for a really nice silkiness on the skin. The texture is also a lot more silky and velvet to the touch. The brush picks up the product easily and it's nicer to blend than the blush.

Here you can also see what my face looks like without the blush and bronzer and with. Keep in mind that the photo was taken before I got some sun tan.

I am obsessed with bronzer and love the effect that it gives me. I tend to use it all over the outer edges of the face, on the nose and on the cheeks. I use it to still have that sun tanned look that I really like. What can I say?! I'm really pale in the winter, so once I have the opportunity to channel my inner J.Lo glow, I do it big! :) I could pass the blush, but it's not as bad either. Just hope the shimmer would be less visible. After all it's 3$! It's well worth it, especially for the bronzer :).

What Elf product do you adore and would recommend them to me?
