OOTD Korean Vegan Skincare (Ad)

I am a big fan of Korean skincare in general. You'll find many reviews of Korean products on my blog. OOTD Beauty is a brand I wasn't familiar with, but as soon as I read their ingredients list, I thought those were the kind of formulas that I would love. And I was right. There isn't a single product I have tried that I didn't like.

Review: Asian Sheet Masks - Innisfree, Etude House, Missha, My Beauty Diary, Papa Recipe, Mizon

Sheet masks are one of those products that you either love or hate. Some love pampering their skin with these every once in a while and others seem to either hate the feel of a cotton sheet on the face or think it's unnecessary step in the skin care routine. I love a good sheet mask, more than I like regular clay masks. Reason being, that I associate it with pamper time and I love the feeling of sheet mask on the skin as well as the glowy effect that it leaves on the skin. It's the perfect base for special events makeup or as an extra nourishing treatment for when you're skin is just a bit meh.

Sheet masks originated in Asia, so I tend to go for their brands of masks more than European, although European brands have also been making their versions. I have decided to put all the Asian sheet masks that I have tried so far in this post. This will give you a brief review of each that I've tried and hopefully, help you decided, if it's for you or not.

Review: Avon Anew Essential Youth Maximising Sheet Mask

Seems like everyone is jumping on that sheet mask bandwagon. Avon came out with their version and of course, I wanted to try it. I'm really liking this sheet mask trend, although I've had the best experiences with mostly Asian sheet masks. They know their sheet game best.

Avon Anew Essential Youth Maximising Sheet Mask comes in a gold plastic packaging. It looks more rose gold on my photos. In the package you get one sheet mask and the regular price of it is 6€. Currently it's on offer for 2.50€ (Slovenia) and I got it in a pre-sale for 1.90€

Here is the ingredients list. Avon promotes this mask as a youth maximising sheet mask that contains retinol. And it does, but it's very low on the ingredients list and it doesn't say what kind of percentage is in it. I was curious, if the ingredients are similar to the serum from this range that I've tried before and really liked - Avon Anew Essential Youth Maximising Serum, but the list is not as similar as I thought it would be.

The sheet mask is made out of white thicker and denser fabric, but it's not as thick as for example Balea Beauty Effect sheet mask or those new ones Cool Melon, Fancy Pomegranate and Sweet Mango masks. It still sticks well to the skin and is well saturated with essence

The essence is transparent, light and watery. It doesn't have that slimy viscose feel that some sheet masks have. It comes well saturated and there is some leftover essence that you can use through the days that follow.

The sheet is very tight around the eyes, which I like, because I want retinol products to work especially around my eye areas. But it can be very tight feeling. It also has a very small hole for the lips and it's sort of upwards cut out, which just looks funny. Maybe it's just me, but I don't know anyone that has that perfect uplifted lip shape. It covers nose well, although mine is a bit longer than most noses.

It also has a cut down the cheek that makes it easier for you to pull up lower part of the mask and get a tight fit around the chin. I like that, because some sheet masks can pull the sides of my face and it just doesn't fit that nice. It also has a small rounded part on one side of the mask, which looks like the part that you want to use to pull it off. I find that kind of funny.

The scent is very subtle, sort of soapy, but nothing too familiar.

At first it feels cooling on the skin and then it almost starts to feel slightly tingly, but it's more of a warming effect really and it's not irritating at all, it just feels slightly tingly. I assume this could be due to a retinol. The sheet never gets completely dry. It says to leave it on for 15 minutes, but I had it on for about 30 minutes.

The essence absorbs into the skin well, but it leaves a slight sticky layer behind which disappears after a while.

My skin looks more even toned, nourished and moisturized. The fine lines around my eyes don't look any less visible or less deep. It doesn't leave a sheen on the skin, skin just looks plumper and nourished. It's not too heavy and I think it's appropriate for all skin types. It almost feels a bit soothing and it's definitely not irritating. I have a sensitive skin type and I didn't have any problems with it.

I like the effect that this mask gives me. It makes my skin nourished, slightly moisturized, evens out skin tone and is not too heavy. It didn't blew me away as some Asian sheet masks did that have the same or lower price tag. For someone that wants to try the sheet mask for the first time and want something with a bit of retinol in it, it's not bad. I advice you to try it now that the price is still affordable.

Zdi se, da vse znamke poskušajo ustvariti svoje maske v lističih. Tudi Avon je pred kratkim predstavil svojo verzijo in seveda sem jo sama želela preizkusiti. Maske v lističih so mi všeč in želim jih preizkusiti čim več, čeprav sem do sedaj imela najboljše izkušnje ravno z azijskimi znamkami.

Sama imam občutljivo kožo in nisem imela nobenih problemov s to masko.

Review: Etude House 0.2 Therapy Air Masks - Ceramide and Hyaluronic Acid

Sheet masks are fairly new to me and I'm slowly trying out more brands to see which ones I prefer. I started with Innisfree sheet masks which were nice basic moisturizing and soothing masks. Definitely better than most of those in our drugstores. Because I heard Etude House also has nice ones for affordable prices, I bought a pack of six. I've already tested both versions and here are my thoughts.

Etude House has many different lines of sheet masks. I got two from their 0.2 Therapy Air Mask which has 15 different types of masks. I got Hyaluronic Acid for the obvious moisturizing claims as well as Ceramide which is also mainly for moisturizing as well as nourishment.

In each is 20 ml of product and I bought them on Jolse for 4.78$  for which you get 3 sheet masks of one type of mask. They often have discounts on Etude House and you can get them for about 20% cheaper. You can also search for these products on Ebay. There are a few of Korean sellers.

Etude House 0.2 Therapy Air Mask - Ceramide

Both of these masks have a very thin 0.2 mm mask. The mask is very saturated with milky white essence. It's extremely wet and sticks to the face really well. You can do your daily activities with it and it won't drip down either.

Here is the ingredients list.

The fit of this mask is one of the best I've tried so far for my face. It actually cover my under eye area and nose, which is rare. Especially my nose, which is bigger, can often make the mask pull away from the skin and just hang on the top of the nose. Mouth hole is the only part that is a bit too big for my face.

It has a gentle scent which is somewhat artificial and I can't really describe it, but for some reason it reminds me of dough, better yet yeast - like a pizza dough. It's not in any way unpleasant.

Milky serum is very moisturizing. It makes the skin super moisturized, soft, plumper looking and gives it a healthy sheen. It can borderline look a bit greasy, if you're skin is not dry or dehydrated. I also feel like it's very nourishing on the skin. Milky essences usually have a bit more than just a basic moisturization to them, they make the skin look nourished and healthier looking in general.

Etude House 0.2 Therapy Air Mask - Hyaluronic Acid

The sheet is the same as with the Ceramide, very thin and fits well. It's very tight around the eyes and I like that, because it means my under eye area gets moisture, but if you don't like that, keep in mind that it is a bit tight.

The ingredients list.

This mask is also drenched in essence and there's a lot of leftover essence in the bag, so don't throw that away. I usually use it as an essence in the morning or in the evening next day.

A tip for you to really get the most out of these sheet masks is also to squeeze the mask once you take it off your face. I find that there's still a lot of essence left in the mask and I squeeze it out and apply on my neck, decolletage and even body. No need to waist it.

The essence of it is transparent and not as milky looking as with ceramide mask.

It has a soothing scent to it, which is also a bit artificial, but actually smells nice.

On the skin it feels very refreshing, soothing, moisturizing and hydrating. My skin looks plumper, well hydrated and almost a bit nourished. It has amazing glow to it and it's kind of sticky at first, but that goes away after it all sinks into the skin.

If you're skin is in need of good moisture and hydration, I'd say go with a Hyluronic Acid one. This one is also great for dehydrated skin in general as is mine - since I otherwise have a combination type of skin. If you're skin is on the drier side and you need a bit of extra nourishment, I'd go with a Ceramide. The milky essence feels more nourishing, although it's also nicely moisturizing.

I like both of these a lot. The fact that the masks are so thin, it makes them easier to wear around the house. They are soaked in essence and there's a lot of it left in the bag for future days. It also fits well on my face and definitely makes my skin look healthier and more moisturized. I'll definitely repurchase these both and maybe even try some other versions in this range.

My favorite face masks

Hey Beauties!

I have to admit, that when it comes to face masks, I am not particularly picky. This is maybe due to the fact that I never seem to have time to take baths, or do face masks, or any kind of beauty routine, that needs a bit of time and work. I'm just horrible like that. I do have time for skin care routine and makeup, but everything else, pamper related, I just never seem to have time for. That being said, when I do finally remember to use face masks, I really like these.

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

This is a regular clay based mask. It's very cheap. This one is great for anyone with oily skin. It does a good job of cleaning the pores, so I love to use it at times when I have pimples or any nasty blackheads. It can be a bit drying, if you're skin is not oily, so be sure to moisturize after using it.

It's very thick. To the pint, when it's hard to squeeze it out. It's one of those typical green clay masks, that you see in TV show scenes. You really need to smudge it nicely around the face, because it's very thick. If you use a thin layer, it will dry faster. You can see it drying, because it's becoming more of a lighter mint shade and it makes your face look like a Sahara desert. It feels pretty tightening on the face.

It smells herbal with mix of mint. This is perfect for summer, because it almost feels a bit cooling, due to the mint in it.

You can get it on iherb for 3.90$ and you get 226 grams of it. They've changed the design, so now it looks a bit different. I've had this for literally more than a year. It's just huge and it will last you for a really long time.

Balea Aqua Tuchmaske

I actually already reviewed this product here. It's hydrating sheet mask. Those sheet kind of masks, have become really popular lately. I guess our lifestyle is making our faces and bodies dehydrated, so anything hydrating is a must in skin care.

This mask comes in a sheet shape of face, with the cut outs for lips and eyes. It's very moist and cold to the touch. It feels refreshing and hydrating. I love the fact that it's really moist, so that when you're done with it, you are still left with some product, which you just massage it into the skin.

It's definitely my favorite hydrating mask. It doesn't have any particular scent, just fresh smelling. You get one sheet mask for the price of 0.99€. You can buy it in Drogerie Markt stores.

Avon Planet Spa Thailand Lotus Flower Deep Pore Cleansing Face Mask

I found this mask by a coincidence. Once I ordered tester of it, just for the fun of it. I loved it so much, but I couldn't find it in the Avon catalog anymore. Finally, it came back. Avon loves to change their lines, but fortunately you can still get a hold of this one every now and then.

This one is again clay based mask, but seems a bit more sophisticated. It's great for deep cleaning the pores.

It has a light lavender color and it has a texture of a thicker cream. It spreads nicely and it's definitely not as thick as Mint Julep Masque. When it dries it becomes very white. It also has that tightening feeling and the cracked look to it. It actually gets rid of the blackheads completely, but of course they tend to come back pretty quickly on my skin type.

It has a very nice subtle sweet spa line scent. Seems pretty calming.

I would use this for when I have a lot of blackheads and clogged pores. Mint Julep Masque is better for when I have pimples and problems with oiliness (summer time), because it just seems to dry up the pimples.

This one is definitely pricier. The regular price is 11.50€ and you get 75 ml of it. I highly recommend you to wait for when it's on sale, because then it costs only around 3.50€. You can buy it at your local Avon seller

Avon Planet Spa Perfectly Purifying Gommage Face Mask with Dead Sea Minerals

Another great Avon mask, that I bought on a whim and found it very useful. It's a chemical peeling kind of mask. It uses acids to peel off top layer of your face and therefore making your skin a lot smoother.

I love this one for one main reason. It only needs to sit on your face for 1 to 2 minutes. Music to my ears. I can slap it on, when I clean my face in the morning or evening, wait 2 minutes and I'm done. All other face masks require longer period of working time from 10 to 15 minutes, but this one is easy breezy.

It comes out as an off white transparent and seems like a gel. It's still firm enough, so that it doesn't slip all around, but it's more on the thinner side. It spreads very smoothly and feels a bit sticky in the beginning. Then it dries to a completely non sticky layer, which is still shiny. I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

It's also good for sensitive skin, because I don't experience any tingling or allergic reactions. Once you wash it off, you're left with ultra smooth skin. Isn't that just one of the best feelings ever? I love to use it when my skin surface gets a bit bumpy or when I tend to get dry patches. Very gentle chemical based mask.

The smell is somewhat manufactured like, not the most pleasant, but it's subtle enough, so that you won't notice it.

This one costs 10.50€ for 50 ml, but as I said, wait for it to be on sale, because it's a lot cheaper. You can buy it at your local Avon seller

There you have my favorite masks. Just to recap. For when my skin feels dry, I love to use Balea Aqua Tuchmaske, because it's really hydrating. For when I get pimples, that are result of oilier skin I love to use Queen Helen Mint Julep Masque, because it dries up the pimples and cleans my pores. Blackheads are a stubborn thing, but Avon Planet Spa Thailand Lotus Flower mask gets rid of them completely, at least for some time. It's also a bit more gentle and not as drying as Mint Julep Masque. Avon Planet Spa Perfectly Purifying Gommage mask is great for times, when I get dry patches or my skin surface just feels bumpy. It makes my skin ultra smooth.

Since, I am not an expert on face masks and I actually don't use them a lot, I would love to hear what are your favorite face mask. Maybe I'll even expend my collection and start using them more.

Review: Balea Aqua Tuchmaske (hydrating sheet mask)

Hey Beauties!

I just have to make a separate blog post about this mask. Usually I never review such cheap one-use products, but this one is a complete star. I'll just admit that most of Balea stuff don't really get me excited, so I was very surprised how much I liked this.

Since I've been seeing those sheet masks all over the internet, I also wanted to give it a try. I saw that Balea had one for hydrating the skin and I gave it a go. It costs only 0.99€.

It's one sheet mask and it comes in this plastic bag. It's suppose to hydrate and pick up dull skin. It contains algal extract, almond oil and rose hip oil.

The ingredients list.

When you take the sheet out, you immediately notice that it's really wet. Some moisture even stays on the bottom of the bag.

I find that it fits nicely on my face, but the eye opening could have been wider. It's so wet that it sticks on the face and doesn't move. It feels like a mixture of gel and water to me. It's really smooth and slippery, but not in any way like a cream. More like a hydrating gel. I leave it on for as long as I have time to and it does a good job of hydrating the skin. It's also pretty cool because of the water, so it's also a bit cooling.

When I take the mask off I'm left with a lot of product on my skin and it says to just massage the rest of it into the skin. It's all very cooling and hydrating and it feels lovely on the skin in those summer days.

I feel like my skin did feel a lot more hydrated after I used this and the proof was another day when I woke up with nourished skin. I've mentioned in one of my previous posts that I recently had problems with very dry and irritated skin. As my last solution I used this mask (because I already used it once before and I really liked it). I swear my skin was perfect the next day. Yes, I did use some other products a few days before trying to combat the dryness, but this one did the last trick and it turned my skin back to normal.

Here you can see how the skin looked like before I put the mask on (with nothing on) and how it looked like after I took the mask off.

Think I'm done convincing you. It's 0.99€, just try it and do let me know how you like it. If you have problems with dry skin this is perfect and it's a great pamper product for when you're in that kind of mood.
