Review: Colourpop Pressed Shadow - Team Captain

I was on a hunt for a good olive eyeshadow every fall. At least it seems so. So when I was ordering some products from Colourpop, I threw Team Captain in the cart as well. Olive eyeshadow used to be hard to find among affordable makeup, but now it seems to be much more present.

Packaging

Colourpop single eyeshadows come in pans or in compacts. You can choose whichever you prefer. I got it in a pan, because I have their empty magnetic palette in which I store it.

In it is 1.5 grams of product and it costs 4.50$.

Formula

It's a bit harder formula than I am used to with Colourpop. Pigmentation is OK, but their other matte shadows seem more pigmented than this one. The more you layer it, the darker it becomes

Colors

Colourpop has a wide range of single shades to choose from.

Team Captain is described as matte medium olive. For some reason it translates much more grey based on me. For some reason I expected it to be more of a warm yellow toned olive. I would say it's more neutral to grey based medium olive. It's also darker than I expected it to be. Finish is matte

I paired Team Captain with Paper Tiger in the crease. Eyeliner is Clio Kill Black Waterproof Brush Liner.

Performance

Because it's a darker eyeshadow, it's a bit harder to blend out, as with most dark eyeshadows. It wears well though. I don't find it to fade through the day, if you use eyeshadow primer underneath it.

I like Colourpop single eyeshadow formulas, but this one is a bit harder to touch and therefor has less payoff. Darker mattes tend to be harder to blend out and the more you layer it, the darker it becomes, but I already expected that. Shade itself is not what I wanted it to be. It's much more neutral to grey based and you know me, I love me some warm tones. It's also darker than I thought it would be. Usually, I live in a slightly lighter colors shades. I might use this more as an eyeliner shade or for smoking out other looks, but it's just not the kind of olive that I wanted to. That is what happens, when you buy something online without swatching it first.
