Spring appreciation and nail art to compliment it!

Hey Beauties!

Today's post is going to be a bit different from my previous posts. I wanted to share a few photos that I took around my house. This is my way of sharing my appreciation for spring. This post is also a competition entry for Julep's spring nail art competition. I was contacted by Julep and asked if I would participate in their competition. Of course, I loved the idea right away and created spring inspired nails.

What is it about spring that makes everyone a bit happier? I know one of the things that I love the most is warm weather and the sun. If my day starts with the sun, I am almost 90% sure, I'm gonna have a good day. Does that happen to you too?

Right now, I am at home, since I finished my classes and have a master's degree to write. One of the benefits of living back at home, is waking up to the sound of birds. My street sometimes sounds like a tropical forest. It's weirdly awesome thing. The birds are still singing late into the night and first thing in the morning. I also love going out and seeing the crazy colors of nature. I was wondering the other day, if there are neon colors in the nature? Well, I believe they are. How about this photo below? That's the first thing I see outside my room and doesn't it look crazy bright? I love it!

We also have a lot of cherry trees around the house and sitting outside, I hear bees buzzing all day long. It's kind of therapeutic. When the wind starts to blow, before the storm, cherry blossoms start falling off the trees and it looks like it's snowing. So pretty.

I hope I did a good job describing the beauty of spring that I see at my doorstep everyday. I do love spring and I can conquer it with the help of tablets (I have allergy to pollen).

In the last part of this post, I'm sharing my roses inspired nails. You've probably already seen it. I did roses nails in one of my previous posts. I used the same technique to do these roses and paired them with pastel neon peach nail polish.

This is an easier way of bringing roses to the nails, since you don't need to do roses on all the nails. Why roses? because they are my favorite flowers of all time and they are just so pretty and versatile on every item (from roses on the shirts, to shoes, to nails). I also added rhinestones to represent golden bows, which are just the cutest thing ever. The bows are made out of heart shaped rhinestones, so there's a little heart hidden as a way of my spring appreciation in this nail art.

As for my explanation...roses are in my opinion the best looking flowers. I paired them with pastel neon peach nail polish, because I love peach shade. It's my favorite. Pastels represent the spring nail trends and the rhinestones give it a bit more glam and diversity :).

Thanks to Julep for contacting me, I had so much fun taking the photos and creating this nail art. Head over to Julep website for inspiration and beautiful colorful nail polishes. They have some lovely color. I especially like the ones with the glitter in. For some inspiration and advice, check their blog, which is also a good source of inspiration for future manicures.

I would love to hear what is it that you like about spring?

Roses on my nails

Hey Beauties!

The flowers are blooming, the sun is getting warmer and the birds are singing. It's finally spring time. One of my favorite flowers are roses and I wanted to try to transfer them on my nails. You decide how successful I was in it, but I think it actually came out nice. I love how colorful my nails look and I wish I had a shirt like this, haha :).

First, do apologize me for my extremely dry hands, I didn't want to put a lot of hand cream on, because then my manicure wouldn't adhere to the nails as I would like. So, bare with me ;).

I started with a white nail polish as a base, to really make the other colors pop. Then I used a sheer pink nail polish with slight gold shimmer in it and made a few blobs in a shape of roses outline. After that I used a bit more pigmented pink nail polish and made the inner blobs, leaving some outline of the former nail polish.

After that I used a medium toned red pink nail polish and repeated with smaller curved lines on the inside. Again going in with even darker, really dark red nail polish, creating a few dots on the very inner part of the rose. I finished the roses with white nail polish. I added curved lines on the outer part of the rose as a highlights. The result is a rose with darker inner parts (where the light hits less) and lighter outer parts (where the light hits more). It gives the roses more dimension.

After that I used light green nail polish and created little leaves to really get a multi-colored look. I really like how the green brings this design to life. I finished it with a top coat.

For the drawing part I used brush that came with a nail polish for the first two nail polishes. Going in with the medium pink I used toothpick for more precision. As I did for all the next steps including the green leaves.

The list of used nail polishes: S-he in Wow!, S-he in Aqua Shine, Maybelline Colorama in 77, Catrice in 360 Raspberry Fields Forever, Maybelline Colorama in 261, iQ Colour Flash in 16 and Essie All in one base.

Here's the finished result. Would you wear anything like that?

DIY: Decorative, storage, gift tin

Hey Beauties!

Do you like hard candy that comes in a tin? I know I have been loving this particular brand. Since I finishes it, I just thought it would be such a waste to just throw it away. It's nice gold and looks like a nice decorative piece. That's why I "pimped it up" a bit ;)

This is how my tin looked like in the beginning.

I bought spray, which is originally for rims, but can be used on any material. I bought it because I had a photo frame that I wanted to repaint. I also love gold color, so I know I am going to be using it a lot.

I sprayed two coats. Just make sure to let it dry after each coat. It will help the color to stick to the tin a lot more. You also need to spray as the instruction says. A bit away from the tin, otherwise you might get dots of paint on the tin, which will not look pretty and it won't dry nicely, either.

Then I found little paper decorative roses and stones in my basement. I gave it a go and laid them on a tin in a pattern that I like.

I used a hot glue gun and glued the individual pieces on the tin.

And that is a very easy and simple DIY on how to transform random cases and tins into a gift, storage or decorative tins. Now I just need to decide for what I'm gonna use it for. I kinda like it to be decorative piece. But I thought of storing everyday jewelry in it.
