Review: Colourpop Creme Lux Lipstick - Quickie

I've wanted one of those Colourpop Lux Lipsticks ever since they came out with them. Partly, because they have nice color selection and partly because of the pretty packaging. I chose shade Quickie, because I've always been on a hunt for peachy nude.

Packaging

This lipstick is part of Shayla's collection for Colourpop. That's why it comes in a black and purple box. Packaging is rose gold metallic with small stars and has nice weight to it. It definitely feels luxurious and more expensive than it is.

In it is 3.5 grams of product and it costs 7$ (Colourpop).

Formula

This is creamy lipstick formula that has just the right amount of glide, but doesn't feel slippy. Finish is creamy. It has a bit of sheen. Pigmentation is really good

Colors

You can choose among many different colors. I decided to go with Quickie, because I wanted a nice peachy nude. Unfortunately, this is a bit too peachy for my taste. It's  light muddy peach nude. It has some brownish tone to it, but it's also very warm and orange toned. It's light in tone and very pigmented. The lighter your skin tone the more orange it will look and the other way around. On darker skin tones this will look more nude. On me it's quite orange toned, but it doesn't show up as orange on the actual photos. I wanted something closer to a brownish peach.

Comparison

Colourpop Quickie - light peach nude.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Athens - also light in tone, but much more pink peach based and more vibrant.
Avon Mark Plump It Lipstick Cantaloupe - much more orange toned shade and less brown.
Avon Mark Plump It Lipstick Cocoa Kisses - pink nude, because it has much more of a mauve undertone.
Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick Au Naturale - probably the most similar, but just slightly darker in shade and slightly more orange.

Performance

Apparently the formula contains hydrating butters and it definitely feels comfortable on the lips. It's not the most soothing formula I have ever tried, but it also doesn't feel drying or heavy on the lips. It wears nice and fades fairly evenly. It's just one of those regular creamy lipstick formulas with great pigmentation.

Seems I just don't have luck with choosing Colourpop lipstick shades. I only tried one of their Lippie Stixs before in Toy and it was the wrong shade as well. I should know that this would be a more peachy shade than I expected. It's just a bit too warm for my winter complexion. Maybe it will look better in summer. I still wear it, but mostly pair it with darker lip liners as a base. Formula is nice, but I have to say nothing special. There is a lot of creamy lipsticks that have just as nice formula. Pigmentation may be its biggest advantage, if this is what you're looking for.

  1. This was my first ColourPop lipstick, and I feel the exact same way as you! It's definitely not the right shade for my pale skin. It really suits you in that photo though xx

    1. I feel it's just a bit too peachy for light complexions as you've notice too. I seem to have this problem with Colourpop a lot, not choosing the right lip shades for me. It's so hard to pick something online. Thank you. I have warm skin tone, maybe that's why it sort of works :).
