Review: The Body Shop LE Cactus Blossom - Shower Gel, Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub, Body Yogurt

The Body Shop has come out with a new limited edition collection called Cactus Blossom. It's celebrating upcoming Mother's Day. I have to say I would never think of cactus as a symbol of motherhood, but they explained it well. Cactus flower is protective, strong, resilient, beautiful and full of surprises, just like mothers.

The Body Shop Cactus Blossom Shower Gel

Packaging

It comes in a transparent plastic bottle with plastic black top and The Body Shop engraved design. Opening is big enough to pour out wanted quantity.

In it is 250 ml of product and it costs 6.50€.

Formula and Performance

Apparently formula is enriched with cactus flower extract from Morocco and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia

It's a regular transparent light green colored gel that foams well under the water. There isn't much to say about shower gels, it cleans well and makes you smell fresh. Scent lingers on the skin for a while. I think of these gel formulas as more refreshing and better suited for warmer days.

The Body Shop Cactus Blossom Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub

Packaging

It comes in transparent plastic pot with black top. I like these wider round pots for scrubs, because it makes it easy to scoop out.

In it is 250 ml of product and it costs 19.90€.

Formula and Performance

Scrub is also enriched with cactus flower extract, honey and gently exfoliating raspberry seeds

I was most intrigued by this product, because it looked so cool. I almost thought of it as chia seed pudding. But those are actually raspberry seeds. It's a thicker green colored gel that contains those seeds, but it also feels like it has a bit of texture to it. It's not like a proper sugar or salt roughness and you have to take a really close look to see the texture. But that is what actually gives you that manual exfoliation.

It's a very gentle exfoliation like it promises, so you won't see any dramatic change, but it will make your skin softer than just using a regular shower gel. I usually use something rougher on my body though.

The Body Shop Cactus Blossom Body Yogurt

Packaging

It comes in light green colored plastic pot with a black top

In it is 200 ml of product and it costs 9.90€.

Formula and Performance

It's a lightweight formula that absorbs quickly and provides up to 48 hours of moisture. Gel cream is 100% vegan enriched with cactus flower extract and Community Trade organic almond milk from Spain

It's another very lightweight milky gel formula that spreads with ease. It glides on the skin and absorbs quickly, leaving behind natural finish with moisturizing feel. I love these kind of gel like body moisturizers for spring and summer when your skin doesn't need or want that heavy nourishing layer on the skin. Scent provides a nice freshness that lingers on the skin for a while.

It definitely keeps the skin looking moisturized, but not sticky nor greasy looking

In case you prefer something thicker and more nourishing, there is also body butter in this collection which based on my experience with other scents melts into the skin like a proper butter and gives you more of that nourishment. You get 200 ml of body butter for 17.50€.

Design and Scent

Let's talk about that design. If there's one thing I love about The Body Shop, it has to be their simplistic approach to packaging with eye catching designs. The whole collection is light green colored which screams spring to me and I love colorful pop of warmer tones that represent cactus flower design

This whole collection also has lovely scent. I personally really like it. To me it smells freshly herbal and almost a bit fruity sweet. Must be the musk note in it that always grabs my attention in any fragrance. But The Body Shop explains it better.

Top notes: carambola and orange
Middle notes: hibiscus and cardamom
Base notes: musk and vanilla

You can get all of these products at The Body Shop Slovenija online or in The Body Shop stores.

As far as the scent goes, this is the perfect spring scented collection. I love herbal freshness of it combined with that fruity sweetness that lingers on the skin. You can choose among basic body products that you know will use like shower gel, body scrub, body butter and body yogurt. There is a a body product for everyone, depending on which texture you prefer. Hard core The Body Shop fans will definitely love it and if you're not one of them, just check this scent out in the store and maybe it will convince you. The Body Shop is a natural brand and if you have a friend that is conscious of that or even vegan, here are some nice option on what to gift them.

  1. I love the sound of this range, and I really hope it comes to the UK soon. It sounds like it smells amazing, and I love the meaning of it being for mothers day xx

    1. I'm sure it will come to UK too. I find it to be a bit unconventional...cactus for mother's day, but the basic idea behind it is nice. For me personally the scent is great, perfect for spring. It may be too herbal for some.
      xx
