Review: Lily Lolo mineral eye colour (Vanilla Shimmer, Deep Purple)

Hey Beauties!

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on mineral make up and that is Lily Lolo mineral eye colour in two shades. I bought both those eye shadows used. I wanted to buy them cheaper and try if I even like the formula and shades, and then maybe decide on buying it new.

I bought two shades, one is called Vanilla Shimmer and the other is Deep Purple. The first thing that confused me was the size of both eye shadows. Vanilla Shimmer claims to contain 1.5 g and Deep Purple 2.5 g. That's kind of off. Since both the shadows have exactly the same packaging - maybe it was a printing mistake, what do I know?! Both are supposed to contain 2.5 g.

The packaging is a plastic pot with a screw-on top. Inside there's this plastic divider (don't know the official name for it) and has three holes. I hate the packaging! Why? Because way too much eye shadow gets through those three holes and then once you open it to use it, you spill a lot of eye shadow all over. Even if you are careful, there is still gonna be some eye shadow on the edge of the pot and you can't gracefully sweep it back in. Just such a waste of products.

The shade Shimmer Vanilla looks very peachy, but it's actually more of a nude color with golden pink shine. On the eyes looks like a light peach shade, if you pack it on fully. It would be a nice highlighting shade for a bit darker skin tones than mine, with golden, yellow undertone. For me it's a bit too orange and dark to go with my natural skin tone. I like using it as an all over the lid shade and then use some contour in the crease and I'm good to go.

Deep Purple is a blue based dark purple and it seems to have some pink blue shine to it. If you just pack the shade on the lid, you get a very intense color. If you blend it out, it becomes a lot sheerer. It's a nice dark purple shade, that would look especially good on dark brown eyes and green eyes.

I find that the pigmentation of both shades is the same. If you pack it on the lid and don't blend out you will get a very pigmented rich color. However, the more you blend eye shadows, the sheerer it gets. If you want just a very light wash of color, you can apply little and blend it out to completely sheer the color out. Which seems to be frustrating at times, at least for me. Because I like my eye shadows to be blended out and I seem to have a problem with this one, since it gets ashy the more I try to blend. Of course the purple has a bigger problem, since it is darker. With the vanilla one, you barely notice anything.

However I really like the feel of them on the eyes. I find them to be a lot lighter to wear-if that makes sense, since they are mineral eye shadows. Initially, I wanted mineral eye shadows as an everyday healthier choice of makeup. I will probably buy at least one more shade, maybe matte brown, to use as a contour in the crease.

Both shades are available in our country for 6,90€, but like I said, I bought them used, so they cost me around 3 € each.

Conclusion: Lovely colors, like that they are mineral eye shadows, the more you blend the sheerer eye shadow becomes, great for everyday looks, hate the packaging.

I would highly recommend them as an everyday eye shadow for people with sensitive eyes or those who prefer natural products. I think a certain skill is needed when blending them, but if you want a simple wash of color all over the lid, it's a fool proof healthier choice.

  4. Mam tudi jaz ene 4 te v prahu ampak mene tako motijo res, ful neumno narejena embalaža, vse ven pada in se porablja za bv...no saj iskreno nobenega senčila nisem še uspela porabiti do konca, sem bol neke vrste zbirateljsko-preizkuševalna varjanta, ampak še vedno je zelo nepriročno.
