We're getting close to Halloween and I had the urge to create at least one makeup look for it. It's that time of year, when you can be a a bit more creative with makeup, if that's your kind of fun. I like doing this, because I rarely get the chance. I created sort of a pop art makeup that isn't all that hard to created, but looks quite cartoon like in real life, even better on photos.

For my base I used higher coverage foundation and concealer. Then I set it all with powder. Even base will give you that doll like look. I then took my body paint palette and started drawing black details like filling in eyebrows, creating frown lines, nose contour and contour lines under cheek bones, as well as on the jaw. This will be sort of an outline. You can also take it down the neck and on decolletage as well as create some frown lines.

Then I used brush liquid liner to sort of outline my eye makeup. It was just a rough guide that I later went back in and thickened it up. For my eye makeup I drew on a crease and applied yellow eyeshadow on the lids. The whole look is very flat. I applied body paint color as cream base and set it with powder eyeshadow. I also did white around my lower lash line to make eye appear bigger. Under that waterline, I created drawn on tears. It's pretty iconic for such pop art makeup looks. Again, I created it all with cream base and set it with powder eyeshadow. I also applied false eyelashes. here you can definitely go bigger. Once I had all colorful parts filled in, I went back in with black and thickened that outline to make it stand out more.

For my lips I used matte liquid lipstick to color them in. I went a bit overboard for a more illustrated look. Then I outlined them with a black liquid liner and created some crack lines in the middle to make them appear fuller. If you add white highlights, it makes them look even more cartoon like.

At the end I added a white wig with bangs. Blue hair would look much better, but my wig choice is fairly limited. You can leave it like this, but I thought adding white dots would make this even more cartoon-ish. I used round eye brush and just dipped it into white paint. This doesn't need to be precise, because it sort of creates a background for your eyes and everything else stands out more, this is just a base. Even if you don't apply dots evenly, it doesn't bother the eye. 

If you didn't know, pop art was art movement in late 50s and it started in United Kingdom and USA. Pop art included popular and mass culture imagery from advertisements and comic books, hence why a lot of drawn on people look a bit cartoon like.
