Review: Essence 3D eye shadow (08 Irresistible Vanilla)

Hey Beauties!

No, I'm not reviewing an eye shadow, but a highlighter. Ok, story time. I saw on Sanja's Pinterest (Sparkle With Laughter) that this eye shadow is supposedly a dupe for MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle and so I had to try it. I don't know if it is a dupe, because I don't own MAC's version, but it's a great cheap highlighter.

It comes in a regular plastic pot. There's 2.6 grams of product in it and costs 2€ and something (sorry, can't find the price on the internet).

The shade is called 08 Irresistible Vanilla and it has two shades. One looks beige and the other one looks orange bronze.

If you swirl them together, you get light golden shade, that has peach undertone in it. That is the first swatch from the left. The second one is just the orange bronze shade and I think this could be great blush color or even bronzer and highlighter for dark skin tones. It has that peach tone to it. The beige shade, looks beige in the pan, but actually has a pink sheen on top of it. It also seems to be less glittery then the orange bronze shade.

The eye shadow is very hard on the touch, but surprisingly it gets picked up by the brush. I wanted to swatched it to you as a highlighter, although it can obviously be used for more purposes. I have to say that it is a pretty noticeable highlighter, because the shimmer is bigger and the whole eye shadow seems to be very shiny and reflective. If you're into that kind of glowy skin, then you'll love this.

You can build up the intensity on the skin. If you apply a little is less visible and if you apply a lot, you'll get a very shiny cheek. You can see that it looks like a pretty gold sheen on my skin.

So there you have it. A very very cheap highlighter, if you're on a market for that kind of thing. Or if you're just curious like me ;).

Bold lips for spring

Hey Beauties!

I must admit that I'm getting into the spring mood. The snow has almost completely went away, days are getting longer and I can almost see spring flowers popping out. I know, probably a bit too soon, but still. Spring clothes are fully stocked in nearby stores and with that comes also spring makeup trends. I love searching new makeup trends and trying to adapt them to my style. This is exactly what I tried to do today.

I was inspired by Kendall Jenner's look at Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015 show. Apparently dark plum and red lips are not going anywhere. Pretty unusual, I think. Strong lips are always fall statement, but hey, good for us, who like those kind of trends. The look was paired with a very light eyes and elongated thin winged liner. It seems like there is very little contouring and highlighting going on, paired with flushed red cheeks.

I applied light yellow white all over the lid and in the inner corner of the eye. Then I added a mix of taupe and light brown in the crease.

I also added the same mix of taupe and light brown around the lower lash line. I decided to use gel liner, even though it was obvious that in the show they had used powders. I made a very thin line, which got thicker in the end and a bit elongated.

Then I just curled my lashes and applied mascara. I am not sure if they used mascara in the show, based on the photos of Kendall Jenner, but I can't go without it.

The rest of the face I applied foundation, concealer and a bit of powder. I used peach red blush on the cheeks a bit high up pulled back to the temples. I also did highlight, because you know me, I love highlighter. I used the same yellow white eye shadow on tops of my cheeks. I also contoured very little around the outer edges of the face.

As far as the lips go, I chose a bit lighter version of plum shade, then Kendall wore and applied it all over the lips with fingers only. Apparently the new spring trend of bold lips requires smudged edges around the lips, so that the lipstick looks like a bold stain on the lips.

I hope you like my interpretation of this spring trend and let me know if you wear or would wear bold lipstick in the spring?

Essence Effect Nail Polish Holo Graphics (I ♥ magic)

Hey Beauties!

Between one of my Christmas gifts was this unexpected beauty, which I like so much, that I've already included it in my giveaway. It was definitely an unexpected love at first sight.

It's one of Essence's Effect nail polishes. It's called I ♥ magic and it's a holo graphics nail polish. There's 10 ml of this nail polish in it and it costs 1.49€.

The nail polish looks like it has very small shimmer in it. The shimmer is multi colored. The shimmer itself has that holo shine, however I don't get that effect when I apply it on the nails. If you've had any holo nail polishes, like this one here, you'll know what I mean. This one is to me just a very small shimmery nail polish that reflects different colors. It's very pretty and love how sparkly my nails look like. I applied only one coat, even though it says to apply two.

I put it over a black nail polish, because I think black is the best base for any glitter nail polishes. I tried to apply two coats of this polish, but that almost completely covered the black base.  I though this would be very easy to take off, since the shimmer is really small. But it still sticks to the nails like a regular glitter. It's not extremely difficult to take off, but still be aware that it's not like the regular colored nail polish.

Here you can see how the glitter shines on the sun. I just really like the fact that the glitter is so small.

Happy Birthday to me and a little giveaway

Hey Beauties!

So, the year is around, again and again I am one year older. 26 to be exact. As usual, I wanted to do a little giveaway on birthday, because why not celebrate it with you people, who have the same interest and with whom I can discuss my unhealthy habit of makeup hoarding and such.

Here is what you'll get, if you decide to participate in my giveaway.

You'll get:
  • Essence Effect nail polish in 22 I love magic (holo effect, you can see how it look like here),
  • Maybelline Colorama Bleached Neon nail polish in 241 (here),
  • NYX butter gloss in Apple Strudel,
  • Avon Advanced Techniques Morrocan Argan Oil (new, of course),
  • Avon eyeshadow primer,
  • Avon Planet Spa Thailand Lotus Flower face mask tester and
  • 5 Avon lipstick testers, that I've chosen for you (new, of course).
I haven't ordered some of the products yet, so keep in mind you'll of course get all new products. And no, I am not sponsored by Avon, although they could give me something, since I've been buying from them a long time :).

The giveaway is open to Slovenian reader only (sorry, postage costs are too high) and it's open from 5th January to 15th January.
