Natural Mauve

I love the neutral brownish mauve look that Ariana Grande usually wears and it seems to be her staple. When I saw her video for Everyday (which is probably the most low budget video ever), I couldn't help but watch her makeup. Mauve is usually more reserved for fall time and to me it looks cool toned, but I still wanted to make an inspired look by that video. Turns out mauve is quite a neutral shade that works on cooler and warmer skin tones. It's a very natural look with that mauve haze to it.

I started my eye makeup with eyeshadow primer and I set it with beige matte color. For the crease I first used a very light matte warm brown. Then I used slightly darker and cooler matte brown. On the lid I used a mixture of light mauve and an even lighter lavender shade. This eye look is all about matte shades that give you that subtle mauve haze.

I drew winged black liner that Ariana also seems to wear often. Then I applied light matte beige in the inner corners to slightly brighten them up. On the bottom lash line I used the same browns and mauves. I also applied mascara and half lashes that wing out at the ends. With these lashes you'll add a bit of volume, but it will still be very natural and it will accentuate winged liner shape.

Ariana seems to prefer a more matte looking skin, so I used slightly higher coverage foundation and powdered it down. I also used a bit of very light bronzer to warm up my skin tone. For highlighter I used light powder with subtle sheen. Nothing too glowy for this look. I used dirty mauve blush to compliment the rest of the makeup.

Her lips always look browner on the outside and more mauve pink on the inner part. So I mixed mauve brown shade with a light mauve shade on top. I also used nude lip liner underneath to slightly overdraw my lip line. I rounded out my Cupid's bow, because she usually does the same.

Natural light was running out of my room, so I didn't have much time to recreate her two buns, but I tried my best. It looked like she had french braids and then put them into two buns. I obviously don't have hair extensions and my hair has no volume, so I did my best with what I have.

Nude brown makeup look

Hey Beauties!

First of all, explanation as to why I've been a bit distant with my posts. Well, I got a new job (a student job, not a real one), I sort of have to write a thesis for my Bachelor's degree (and I'm starting to go into a panic mode) and I didn't shop almost at all - so no new products. That's about to change, since I have been naughty already this month :). I promise, I'll get better with my posts and posting them, but it's just been a bit crowded. I'm sure all of you know how it is sometimes.

Moving on... I have seen some of the popular photos of Jenner sisters (younger Kardashian sisters) on the internet and fell in love with a nude makeup look and sort of browny tones that Kylie Jenner has been wearing. Neutrals are my favorite colors to use, when in a hurry and choosing a safe choice. I decided to recreate my version of brown nude eye makeup, with a bit of bronze, highlight and a brown nude lipstick.

As for the eye makeup, I used a light warm brown all over the lid. I then added taupe brown into the crease and dark brown shade in the outer V of the eye. I also used a light brown shade on the lower lash line. All the brown shades are completely matte. I only used a pink toned white shimmer eye shadow in the inner corners of the eye, to wake up the eyes. At the end, I added a little winged liner, not too thick, not too think. I finished with mascara and about 5 pairs of single fake eyelashes on each eye.

I particularly like the long Jenner lashes, but of course they're probably not all natural. If they are, good for them! I needed some help with mine, therefore the single fake eyelashes, because they look more natural.

On the face I put a medium coverage foundation and used a little less than usual. I wanted to still see through the texture of the skin. I concealed imperfections with a moisturizing concealer. Powder was reserved only for the T zone. On the face I also used my usual bronzer around the temples, a bit to contour under the cheeks, on the jaw line, neck and around the nose. But the bronzer was used very lightly, to make the contour appear as natural as possible. I also used champagne highlighter on the top of the cheeks, on cupids bow and in the center of the nose. No blush.

I put a nude lip liner around the lips and filled them in with a light warm brown shade of lipstick. Then I took most of the lipstick off with a tissue. That way, I got a really thin layer of lipstick. The lipstick itself is more shiny if applied heavily.

That is the finished nude makeup look, that would definitely suit everybody and would be good for any occasion. I actually prefer looks like that, because they're easy to create, you don't need a lot of products and it's a lot easier to maintain it, than bright lips or anything too colorful.

My basic everyday makeup routine

Hey Beauties!

Everybody has a basic makeup routine and I wanted to share mine. Although, if you watched most of my makeup tutorials, I am sure you've figured it out ;). I do this kind of makeup everyday, when I rush to classes. For some this maybe too much, for me is just enough :).

Of course I start with foundation. I use foundation brush, because it's less messy. Then, I tend to go to eye makeup and leave concealer after eye makeup is done.

For the eyes I start with filling my eyebrows. I do this with eye brow pencil, because I find it lasts all day. Next is a basic eye shadow shade all over my lid. I use different shade combinations, here I went for pinky purple brownish shades. I like to use matte eye shadow, which is darker then the base and use it in my crease. Actually, I use it a bit higher then my actual crease. I'm faking my crease to make it seem like it's higher. I have slightly hooded eyes and find that this works great for enlarging the eye lid space. Sometimes I put the same shade around my lower lash line and sometimes I don't even bother with that. I also love using shimmery eye shadow in the inner corner of the eye. It just makes me feel that little more alive :).

I don't like using eye liner everyday, because it's too difficult to make it perfect and takes too much time. So I go for black eye shadow instead, which I use as a thin line around upper lash line. I also like to winged it out, just a little, so my eyes don't look droopy :). Next is curling my lashes. I swear by this. It just makes the biggest difference with any eye makeup. It extends the length of lashes. Finishing eye makeup with nice volumising mascara.

Then I go in with concealer, to conceal everything that the foundation hasn't and cover up my under eye circles. Highlighter is one of the products that I am loving. I use it on top of my cheeks, everyday. If I have enough time, I also put it down my nose and on the cupids bow, especially if I tend to use lipstick. Blush is also a must have. It goes a little on the top of cheeks and a little behind, almost using it as a contour.

As far as lips goes, there's mostly just a lip balm. Sometimes I use nude lipsticks and sometimes I use darker lipsticks as a stain, finger smudging it around my lips in thin layers. And I'm finishes. It takes me around 20 minutes to do this every day. I think that's pretty fair, do you? :)
